Bold Predictions

Post#1 » by Klomp » Sat Jun 26, 2010 9:50 pm

Post your bold predictions for the 2010-2011 season.

I'll start it off:
-Darko Milicic will average ~15/10, and will be in consideration for Most Improved Player.
-The Minnesota Timberwolves will win 30 games this year.

Darko will get 12/8 is what my guess is, but still in the running for MIP
30 wins? I think 25 would be a great success, if we were in the running for 30 I would probably shell out the money to actually go to the Target Center!

This is much more subjective, but I think the Wolves will be exponentially more interesting to watch and be significantly more competitive in the many loses they still will accumulate.

-Kevin Love leads the league in rebounds/game
-Wolves are in the top 3 in the league in 3pt attempts
-Jonny Flynn improves significantly, Brewer sees his minutes cut and he regresses
-Al makes the all star game with his new team

We will win enough to have the 8th or 9th worst record and we will drop 2 spots in the lottery, losing our pick to the Clippers. This will end up being a good thing, though, because we will get to skip the draft for a year.

I'm not sure I'm doing this right.

- Johnson will be a legitimate candidate for ROY and get starting minutes from the opening night
- Webster will surprise and average 15ppg (give or take) assuming health
- Minnesota will get 25 wins, but the average point differential in a loss will be less then 5
- Jefferson is traded in a deal that the fans don't like but will eventually pay off

The rest of the league:
- Cousins will struggle to play more then 2 quarters a game and fans will call him a bust
- Phil Jackson retires and Oklahoma wins out West
- New York will get Lebron but won't get Bosh, will struggle to get 40-45 wins
- Boston throws in the towel and starts rebuilding

The Wolves will win 10-20 more games then they did this past season.

Johnny Flynn and Ramon Sessions will give the Wolves one of the better PG rotations in the NBA and make people question if one of them should go of if the Wolves should start to shop Ricky Rubio.

Wesley Johnson will have a very solid rookie year and make the All Rookie 1st team easily although I don't believe he'll compete directly with John Wall, Evan Turner or Blake Griffin for the actual ROY award.

Al Jefferson will end up staying and being a great feel good story as he makes his first allstar team at PF.

Martell Webster will end up taking the starting SG job from Corey Brewer and make a serious run at the MIP award by averaging 17/5/3 and finishing amoung the leaders in three point field goals.

Corey Brewer will struggle at first with the demotion and then as the season goes on grow strongly into his role as the energy guy off the bench and a fan favorite.

Darko Millic will continue to progress and will spend the season as the starting center giving the Wolves roughly 9/7/2/2 in roughly 30 minutes a night.

Kevin Love will continue his double double antics off the bench behind Al Jefferson for a few months and then ask for a trade which will be granted throwing the Wolves out of the playoff race and saving their pick from the Clippers.

Jonny Flynn will have another miserable season and Kahn will wish he'd dealt him for the number 10.

Darko will average something like 9 and 6 and people will act like this is awesome, somehow.

Jefferson will be traded for pennies on the dollar.

Wesley Johnson will be solid but not a ROY candidate.

Pekovic will look great in limited minutes.

Martell Webster will have one good month, and the rest of the season he'll be worse than Corey Brewer.

Love will be the best player on the team, even though Kahn says there isn't one.

Despite playing 5 times as many home games, the Wolves will have a lower total season attendance than the Vikings.

Darko with MIP and DPOY

Wes with ROY

Al stays, and forms a very solid front court with Darko.

Flynn starts to really tear chit up.

Rubio traded to NY for Gallinari

-We will be one of the 5 worst teams in the NBA.

-By midseason, everyone on the boards will be looking for a way to dump Webster for an expiring.

+Wes Johnson makes the all rookie 2nd team.

-Flynn shows minimal improvements.

+Sessions has a better year then last year and plays more by the end of the year

+Corey Brewer becomes our best wing player.

-Ellington becomes the odd man out

+Hayward becomes a fan favorite because of his hustle and earns about 15 minutes a game.

-Al Jefferson gets traded this offseason, then completely recovers and plays with a chip on his shoulder and becomes an all-star while putting up 22/11 next year.

-Darko plays solid and puts up 10/6, but with Jefferson's emergence Minnesota fans sour on Darko and he starts to grumble by the end of the year

-Pekovic takes longer to adjust then we like

-Hollins doesn't play much at all

+Love puts up 18/12 and just misses the all-star team.

I am going to go on a limb that's more then likely to break but here goes.

Darko averages 10PPG and 8RB per game

Kevin Love joins the 20/10 club

Johnson is the ROY

WOLVES MAKE THE PLAYOFFS AT #8th SEAT

-Flynn becomes even more of a stud, and hits it off with Wes and they tear it up.

-Someone finally decides they want AJ and we get something pretty decent for him.

-Love averages 18/10

-Darko doesnt do squat, and we wish we hadnt brought him back (assuming he comes back)

-We get something good out of sessions and brewer. and get another PG who is more fit to be a backup.

-MIN wins like 20-30 games.

-We finally get a great deal for Rubio, and Ricky is a bust for that team.

I guess this really makes it bold predictions. Since the Wolves are not yet done rounding out the roster.

My Bold Predictions (Keeping in mind that Al might get traded):

* Darko improves a lot. Might get a serious amount of MIP talk and might actually win it.

* Love leads the league in rebounding.

* Wesley Johnson also might be in the talks with the ROY award.

Boldest Prediction

* We might be one of the on the bubble playoff teams like last year's Grizzlies.

Anyways, this all is just for fun :D

I'll play along

Webster MIP: I don't think he's going to have a breakout season, but he's sharing a backcourt with a rookie and a sophomore, he might be a starter, he's going to get more minutes, and he will inherit a bigger role. He's not going to be the star obviously, but he isn't sharing the court with Roy, Miller, Batum, and Fernandez.

Minnesota = Worst team in the NBA. The only teams who stand a chance of stealing the title is Memphis, GSW, and maybe NOH if they trade CP3

I agree. I don't want to do this, only to change half my ideas later.

I will, however, make some bold FA predictions.

Big Al stays because no team will give value for him. The only way he is moved is if Brewer or Flynn are attached.
Pek is moved for a combo guard.
Stemsia averages 12 points, 8 boards, and 9 fouls a game in summer league.
Nemanja Bejilca is the talk of the Summer League, with many "experts" saying he could end up being a top 10 player out of this draft. EDIT - forgot he is playing for Serbian National Team, if he wasn't, mark my words....this would be a truthfact.

You forgot Toronto on that "worst team" list. I also think DET, INDY, and WASH will be terrible, but not as terrible as MN. (Barring off season moved, but I don't see any of those teams being very good regardless).

I think the wolves will also be a decent team to start out, but injures will return us to 2009-2010 form.
