David Kahn introduced Martell Webster as a Timberwolf this afternoon at Target Center and said he plans to call the agents for two players at 11 p.m. Wednesday -- the start of the NBA's free agency period -- to try to sent up visits for their clients.

Kahn wouldn't say who. I'm betting one is Amare Stoudemire. If he's really aiming at the sky, the other could be Chris Bosh, but perhaps even Kahn might know how high is too high to aim.

As I wrote in a story for Sunday's paper, look for the Wolves to aim high and target not a shooting guard, but a power forward whose length and athleticism could upgrade the frontcourt. Al Jefferson -- and even Kevin Love, depending on how high they can realistically aim -- likely included if it's a sign-and-trade deal.

"We won't be one of these teams that shows up on somebody's door step," Kahn said. "We'll invite one, maybe even two people to come visit us. I very much want people to come here and see the upgraded facilities, to meet Glen, to have a feel for the entire organization. There are a lot of quality people who work here and are connected to this organization.

"The more they can meet these people during this process, I think the better and also get a sense for the downtown, the Twins stadium. There's a lot of activity and excitement downtown. I think that's a benefit for us. One of the things we're selling is stability. We can do a better job of selling that here as opposed to be in some third-party city."

I actually think we may have a shot at Amare. I think he wants to be the number one guy. In Miami, he would be number two or three. I think he wants to run. Sure, they do in Phoenix, but how much longer will Nash be around? We have Flynn now, and Rubio coming in a year...

He seems like a guy that would enjoy Minnesota. I think Phoenix would like Al.

It's an interesting idea for sure. I do wonder how likely a FA PF is and what the next move would be if it happened. I think it's definitely going to be interesting how fast the FAs make a deal.

I'll be interested to see if any of the big time free agents actually takes him up on his offer to visit.

Bosh has been the number 1 guy in Toronto, I think he want's to win at this point.

I would like Amare here, if he is gonna bring that "A" game that he brought after the trade deadline last year. That would be really exciting, and Kahn does believe that we are getting a top tier free agent, so they must be close to something. I guarentee it is a sign and trade, which rules Bosh out because he declined his option. I believe it is a sign and trade because if we do sign a FA PF, without a sign and trade, Al loses nearly all his value because teams would know we wouldn't have room for him on our roster. If I were to guess, the agents would be those of Rudy Gay & Amare Stoudemire.

Agree, but with a sign and trade that might be difficult to acquire a shooting guard.

I think Kahn could make a pretty good pitch to Bosh though:

First, we have a young nucleus that is in need of a star to build around. Nearly all the pieces are there except the most important piece. That's where you come in. We have two young, big tough centers in Pekovic and Milicic -- two guys that can defend the big bruising centers of the league and allow you to play power forward big minutes. When we could use you at center against smaller lineups, we have a young bruising forward that works great off the ball in Kevin Love. He'll do the dirty work so you won't have to. We have two young point guard prospects with tons of upside that will be adept to playing the pick and roll in Johnny FLynn and Ricky Rubio. At the wing spots, we have a number of young athletic shooters, who can spread the floor, hit the open shot. All have the tools to be solid defenders. Second, we have a system, the triangle, that allows you to make plays out of the post so you can be the proverbial go-to-guy, but which also is designed to prevent teams from being willing to double team you. Lastly, we have a big trade chip in Al Jefferson that allows you to come over in a sign and trade in which you can make the maximum money allowed. In Minnesota, we can offer you something playing next to Wade or Lebron cannot. You can be the face of the franchise, and the guy to single handedly turn this franchise around. This can be your team. A team that will grow and build with you and be a competitor for a long time. Come to Minnesota.

Hmm if it is lets say Bosh or Stat I am going to be underwhelmed.Their both star players and all but what's the point.I my eyes Al Jefferson is about the same as those two and in Stat case younger.Plus he has a better contract at $13M a year while via sign and trade or just straight up signing the will get $15M or $16M plus then what happens to Kevin Love.Does he go back to the bench or gets trade also ? It seems to me that Kahn wanted to keep overloading at every position except at SG which we have none of right now.

I think that Khan should go after Gay,Salmons,Allen,Johnson and Redick in the off season.I highly doubt that Allen would come sense he's 35 and looking for a ring which the Wolves are two to three years away from most likely.John Salmons and Joe Johnson is also on the older side but not to old at 28/29 and could real give us a vet that can score and make plays on their own.Plus I believe that both guys are more about the $ right now then the ring.So we might have to over pay them a bit but I think it would be worth it.

But idealy I would love to sign Rudy Gay and JJ Redick.They both are young player and could real improve this team this year and after the Spanish Ghost comes over maybe a title contender.Rudy Gay should be easyer to get then most of the top FA just pay the man and I think he will come.JJ Redick will be harder to get due to the Magic being able to match so maybe over pay for him so the Magic can't match or work out some type of deal(Brewer for Redick) or something along those lines.Hell maybe due the Big Al trade as well in the deal(Jefferson,Brewer,Hollins for Carter,Redick and maybe a future pick)

Al Jefferson is not even close to as good as Bosh or Amare. Al can't play with Love, thats why we are trading him, it has nothing to do with losing 2 or 3 million dollars in a deal. I dont think it will be Bosh either because he wont be apart of a sign and trade. I could see us going after Redick cause we could get a good deal out of him. I don't think Rudy Gay deserves a max contract, and thats really the only way we could real him in. Joe Johnson, no chance.

I wouldn't knock Al's game because he's the best low post scoring big man in the league. His footwork is just astounding. Amare has a consistent mid range jumper and is so athletic he can get to the rim (even above it) and gets to the line often. That's what the Wolves are looking for. I wouldn't short hand Al because I believe when healthy he's right up there with Bosh and Amare.

Al Jefferson = Never been to an all-star game & no other personal accolades
Chris Bosh = 5 time all-star, all NBA second team, all NBA rookie first team
Amare Stoudemire = 5 time all-star, rookie of the year, all NBA first team, three time all NBA second team, all NBA rookie first team

Not quite up there if you ask me.

We can debate and compare Amare, I guess.

But Bosh is a much better player then both of them. Al is a better low block left side monster, but overall Bosh is better.

isnt amare due for a 2.knee rebuild based on the type of injury he had and deterioration?

The only logical trade in my mind is okc for Harden
