A good starting deal for Pekovic. If he doesn't take it, I question his agent.

With such an agreement we would have roughly $8M in cap space before signing Darko.

If this was the direction we're going to go, we should have traded our cap space at the trade deadline. We could have signed these guys if we were over the cap.

Worm, at the all-star break we had no idea we were going to acquire our center of the future.

If Darko signs for 6-7 million I could get behind it. But any more and they're eating up the cap space like piranhas.

Not a fan of throwing out such a big offer for Pekovic. Hoping it's bunk.

It's certainly not a bargain, but I'd say it's fair market value. Anything less and he really has no incentive to come over.

I have not found credible source other than this website. Do not get too excited yet.
Can an offer be made before july 1st anyway? I do not think so.
Cap space is not as valuable as we think it is if we are unable to make a trade using it. Apparently Kahn wants to use Al to get a S/t so then we can use the cap on Pekovic and Love I guess.

Same, or just something a rumor to spark some interest before trading him.

Well, I'll concede that you can't make present decisions based on past ones. If signing Pekovic is the best decision, so be it.

Yes, I think so. Nothing stops us from making an offer to our own player. He simply can't sign it yet.

I don't really care about cap space to sign a player, I'd just like Kahn to keep $5-7M under the cap so he can maneuver for assets like Presti has in the past.
It isn't so much that I'd be disappointed in losing the cap space, more that I'm skeptical Pekovic is worth giving a 3 year, $15M contract to in the first place.

Pekovic is good, very good. I have always heard near MLE value would be his contract.
if Pekovic is for-sure signing with us then an Al Jefferson trade is not as naive, depending on the return.

I'm not as sold as you are on Pekovic. He's definitely a brute, has nice touch around the basket, and sets better screens than anyone on the roster (with the possible exception of Darko), but I don't know how the entirety of his game will transfer to the NBA.

I like how we're getting much more efficient players on the roster. Pekovic and Johnson are crazy efficient scorers.

He also has good hands a a high BBIQ.
He reminds me of a bigger, stronger much better shape Glen Davis. He boxes out, but does not get a lot of rebounds. He plays aggressive energetic defense, but is not a shot blocker. He will be the type of guy other teams do not want to guard. I think a 3-man rotation of Darko/Pek/Love would be very nice.

Fifteen million may be too much for us, but I'm not convinced we're signing him to play in MN. We shouldn't worry about how much WE should pay him, but how much SOMEONE ELSE should pay for him. A team that has more cap space to use may look at him as a nice pick-up in a trade. Wesley Johnson, too. Yeah, it's possible we deal him. Why is it we take like 4 SF's in the draft? I don't think they're all sticking around. Maybe Webster could/will be packaged in a deal, maybe it's Johnson. I wouldn't rule anything out. The only remaining question is, who will sign a deal to come here?

What would be the advantage of signing him before we trade him? His rights alone would be easier to trade because they do not hurt the cap. Unless the other team wanted to have him signed/traded and then still use their MLE.
Johnson is not going anywhere.
