Al Jefferson requests trade

Post#1 » by jordananderson » Thu Jul 1, 2010 8:40 am

Al Jefferson has requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Wolves tried to move Al leading up to the NBA Draft. Two teams that have shown serious interest include the Denver Nuggets and Chicago Bulls. HoopsWorld

Did not see this coming, not sure how reliable the source. If it is true that makes things interesting.
The Timberwolves will be good.....someday

if i was Big Al and known that I was actively being shopped around, and also know that my GM didn't call me the best player on the team even though I knew I was and so did everyone else, I'd request a trade too. Who wouldnt, he knew he was going anyway. No surprise.

Seriously. This doesn't surprise me at all. They treat the guy like garbage, basically call him a scrub and then let the world know they want no part of him. I have no idea why they behaved like this or what made them think this was professional behavior. Seriously, show a little respect to the guy who gave the team everything he had. Just because we can't figure out a way to use him it doesn't mean you should trash him. (Which also lowers his value in any deal you idiots!)

Now he's demanding a trade which lowers his value even more. The FO botched the hell out of this thing. It pisses me off it came to this. Don't be surprised if the same crap happens with Love if we sign Lee and give all these other bigs more respect than him. Kahn needs to learn how to handle players better.

Chicago doesn't surprise me at all. I was a bit surprised to see Denver as a possibility.

Id have to agree, it seems like it could have been handled much better. The only reason why I reserve judgement is that we are not privy to any behind the scenes communication. Perhaps Kahn talked to Big Al and said they would be moving in a different direction, well before any of the talk occured.

I hope the whole Lee thing is just to show that we are serious about going after people and not a person they really want to sign.

Chicago has more to offer us I guess. Deng/ Gibson/ and a pick.

This is just one of those things that really makes me question Kahn's ability to be an effective VP. The guy needs to learn when to STFU and when to diplomatic. Show a little courtesy.

Man this really pisses me off. It's so Bush league. One thing I loved about McHale during his last 5 years or so as GM was that when moving players he did it with dignity and mutual respect. You down zone a player out and put him on blast like we did. It's almost like they were trying to alienate Al with the fans.

How the hell is someone supposed to feel when you see a teammate sitting with your coach at a Lakers game while the GM and front office don't even acknowledge your presence unless its about dumping your ass. Who is Al's agent? I can't imagine Al will have great things to say about this whole situation and if Al is unhappy, his agent is unhappy. This could bite us in the ass down the line. Way to burn bridges Kahn!

you guys are so ridiculous. don't you remember kahn sat down with Al and told him he's going to be shopped and why. that's what you're SUPPOSED to do as a GM.

Thats what I was saying. we are not privy to behind the scenes information and are just projecting our feelings of the situation making assumption about Khans tactics.

We've all been thinking he should/would be traded for almost a year now, I'm not sure why this is such a surprise to anyone here. It certainly isn't news to any of the GM's out there, or Al. Wait to see what we get for him before you start bashing Kahn.

I'm not sure why this lowers his value, that's just stupid. I could just as easily suggest it improves his value because other teams know he is looking for a new situation, and will be happy to join them.

While I agree that Kahn needs to STFU and stop declaring publicly which players he wants to move, I would think that privately any player would appreciate knowing what's in their future (it would be nice to have Gomes' opinion on it, since Kahn said he told him as early as the end of last season that he'd be moved). As a player dont think you'd rather be prepared? As for McHale, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasnt KG pissed as hell that they started trade talks behind his back?

Oh, Al's agent is Kevin Love's agent. So I doubt there is much distress in the agent camp.

Hoopsworld is total crap but it wouldn't suprise me if Al did this. Kahn talks way way way too much in the media. It's like he's always trying to justify his moves and explain why he's so intelligent. Just do you job, treat people with repect and keep your mouth shut.

If we can't move Al in a S/T, I have a feeling we're going to get an expiring and a lotto protected first. That will make me sad.

What about a deal for Nene??

He would be a nice fit as he is a nice passing big who can run the floor,

plus I think he was a little under-used in Denver... hes a talented guy

what do u you think?

We all know that every published source is gospel truth. David Lee is coming for a visit and half of the Minny faithful have him signed and starting along with Love traded. They have even projected and moaned their own hypothetical trades. These chaps must of married the first gal they looked at, spin every one- arm bandit they see, and can't resist playing that 7 2 off suit.

I think Kahn needs a new nickname....

Loose Lips?
STFU?
Kahn't keep his mouth shut?
Kahn't resist a Kahnversation?

IF this did happen, good for Al. The team really should've treated the Love and Al thing like the Flynn and Rubio thing; with complete confidence state that both can play together, while secretly telling Al he is the odd man out. When offers come in, and a good play is involved , say "I don't usually do this, but how about your all star level player for ours?" Maybe he did do this, but it doesn't seem like it. And all the comments tooting Darko's horn while demeaning others on the roster is sort of unnecessary.
"Llevaré mi talento a Minnesota".
