Why does everyone seem to want Brewer traded?

The guy was arguably the best player on our team last year and made huge improvements to his game. He FINALLY shut many fans up about being a bust, and now everyone talks about tossing him into trades?
Yeah, we would have to resign him next year, but so what? He is a very good up and coming player, so why throw him into lackluster deals?
I just don't understand the lack of love for (Yer Ma Boy) Brew. Keep Brewer's Blend here imo (especially since I bought his jersey last year).

He definitely made last season more enjoyable.

I don't think "everyone" wants him to be traded but if we have to add a sweetener to any trade involving Big Al or another player then Brewer is probably the one to go.

He has been my favorite Wolf since he was drafted but if Al is getting traded for a wing Brewer needs to go. I can't see Johnson or Webster being traded so that leaves Brewer.

I'd like to see a wing rotation of Johnson/Brewer/Webster next year so I hope we hold on to Brewer.

I don't think that anyone wants to see Brewer traded, they're just being realistic. Kahn just added Johnson and Webster this offseason. It's extremely unlikely that either of those two won't be on the team next year, so if we manage to add another big time wing (through a Jefferson trade or otherwise), someone has to go.

I like Brewer but you can argue he wasn't even the best wing player on the Wolves last year never mind trying to spout nonsensical crap about him being the Wolves best player. Two Wolves had positive +/- numbers in PER differential and they're both natural PF's.

He was fun to watch and much improved but to say he was arguably our best player? Come on.

Why though? Most of the trades that have been talked about for Al have been getting less than what Al is worth it return, so why would we need to sweeten it with Brewer?

Who was consistently better than Brewer by a decent margin last year for the Wolves?

If you need to ask, i'm not really interested in talking about basketball with you. Not real interested in talking about quantum theories with George W. Bush either.

Well I think we all can agree that Al's trade value is low right now. Brewer draws interest from lot of teams (none specifically). He greatly improved and showed promise to be a better than good player in this league. If we trade for a wing,
a real good one, chances are that the team is gonna want a "cheap" young replacement that has a lot of potential. So if teams have their concerns about taking in Al but are still interested, you offer them Brewer, but for the right price, and of course it all depends on the player and his skill level. I don't see Johnson or Webster leaving anytime soon. So if we have to include a positive asset in any trade to get a player we really like, then Brewer is gonna be the odd man out.

PER is overrated, watch basketball and get back to me Mr. Hollinger.

This logic does make sense, I just don't know who is realistically an option for us as "a real good wing" that would = Al+Brewer. Not saying those wings aren't out there, just not sure of ones that we could realistically get.

Wanting and expecting are two different things.
I don't want him to leave but it seems very, very likely.

The only reason I would trade Al is to get a star SG. If we are able to set something like that up, I'm afraid Brewer might be the odd man out, because he is one of the few Wolves with high trade value (next to Love).
But if we get anything less / worse than Iggy, we should just hold on to Al and Brewer. It might make Minutes scarce for our big men, but if Al stays healthy until say All-Star Break and puts up 20 / 10 again, at least these ridiculous rumours such as "Deng for Jefferson" or "SCB for Jefferson" or "My dinner leftovers for Jefferson" will stop and we can start talking for real.
As someone said, a 15 Win team can't afford to ditch talent because of minutes. Hold on to everyone who has a real chance of improving their game and trade value. IMO This includes both Corey and Al.

I agree that PER is overrated but it isn't that off base that you can completely ignore it to that extent. PER =/- on the other hand is not a overrated stat but is a very good tool to see where a teams overall weaknesses are across the five positions.
I like Corey Brewer, but to try and say that he was the best player on the Wolves team a year ago is just nonsense. If you can't own up to that then its rather pointless to debate basketball with you.

I like 9 man rotations. I did as a player, and as a coach. When I see that we brought Johnson and Webster in it moves Brewer to the bench. I think the difference in production between Brewer off the bench and Wilkins/Sasha is incredible.
but...He is also one of the only trade assets we have and it seems like Kahn is getting rid of old players. So the logical thing would be to see Brewer (in his exp contract) being moved with Al for value. If we are able to get a Ty-thomas type player then we still have a decent 9 man rotation
darko/love/Johnson/Webster/Flynn w Pek/Thomas/Ellingson/Sessions. With Thomas covering the Odom 3/4 role that Rambis might love.
If you have spent time on this forum you know I love Brewer. I have mad love for Brewer. I just see the writings for a move.

No offense, but if we traded away Al and Brewer for Tyrus Thomas, I would have a tough time watching this team. I don't think they need overpaid low BBIQ guys on the team, Thomas is a Gerald Green type player who hasn't earned the contract he has.

I'd rather trade for Marvin Williams to play this 3/4 role than pay Ty Thomas. And I'm not really advocating that.

Kevin Pelton at Basketball Prospectus makes a compelling case for Tyrus Thomas. His projected WARP over the next three years is the same as Amare's.
He's 23 and already great at defense. Any improvement on the offensive side is just gravy.
