http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=16684Timberwolves Fans – I know it has only been some 14 months, and that Rome wasn't built in one day but, so far, the David Kahn regime in Minnesota has been, at best, bizarre. Kahn selected three point guards in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft (although the third of which, Ty Lawson, was traded to the Nuggets for a first-round pick in the 2014 NBA Draft they did acquire free agent point guard Ramon Sessions as well) and then acquired two small forwards (Wesley Johnson and Lazar Haywood) in the first round of last Thursday's draft and traded for a third, former Portland Trail Blazer Martell Webster. So far in the free agency period, Kahn has spent some $33 million on Darko Milicic and Nikola Pekovic, two centers with a combined 116 NBA starts (and none for Pekovic).
I know it's Hoopsworld and all, but seriously? You can't even be bothered to google "Ty Lawson trade" to find out the real deal?

I don't even care about this anymore because these stories are never going to end. In a few weeks we will be able to find the same articles.
Edit: Wow, I actually took the time to read it

i love how people don't realize the only 2 players after our picks worth taking were also pg's(jennings/curry)

Ty Lawson wasn't even the third PG selected by the Wolves. Nick Calathes was. Idiots in the "media".

I missed the first-round part. But we didn't pick Lawson. We traded the pick to Denver and they picked Lawson. So we only picked 2 pgs in the first round.

We really only picked 1 pg that was actually on the team the following year, so I don't get all the hate. We selected Rubio knowing his contract status, so we also picked up anothe PG that we liked and Flynn (whether right or not) was the next highest on our board. Pretty simple.
Of course the ideal situation would have been Sactown taking Rubio and we select Evans followed by Curry. yummy. We would have improved and lost our pick to the clips, but used #16 and #23 to move up and grab George...
Darko - Pekovic.
Jefferson - Love
George - Brewer
Evans - Ellington
Curry - Sessions

Or that only one of them actually is on the team. Do they seriously think we should have taken DeRozan or Williams 6th to avoid a "logjam" and not to scare Rubio away? Of course then we would get ripped on for "reaching" for one of those guys and not having a PG on our team RIGHT NOW after a PG heavy draft. It's pathetic how everyone mindless parrots this nonsense. Then again, look at that thread on the GB about the Clips...
What I love is how Gooden BY HIMSELF makes what Darko and Pekovic will make COMBINED. Or that Darko is making LESS on this contract than the last one he signed (24 mil or 3 yrs IIRC), even as guys like Gooden and Amir Johnson get paid $30 plus million. I still can't believe someone was dumb enough to compare this to McIlvaine...seriously...

We traded it for Martell Webster basically. So it would be Flynn + Webster vs. Lawson + Derozan. meh?

I'm warming up to Kahn. He's been taking the worst part of the team and getting pieces to turn it into a plus. Two years ago Telfair and Brown were our starting and backup PG's. Now it's Flynn and Sessions. Last year our 3 SF's were Gomes, Wilkins, and Pavlovic. Now it's Johnson, Webster, and Hayward. I honestly believe the Darko/Pekovic center rotation will be our strongest options at center pretty much ever(as far as real centers are concerned). Now we just need a good all around SG.

Wow, I feel the exact opposite of you. I was really high on Kahn after the #5 pick exchange and the Darko/Cardinal exchange, but have been pretty unhappy about everything else.

I find it interesting that nobody gives Washington any crap for their draft day this year. They already had Gilbert Arenas (6'3" PG) on a massive contract. They then drafted John Wall (6'4" PG, but the right pick), and traded for Kirk Hinrich (6'3" PG) who is also on a massive contract. They actually have more redundant PGs under contract right now than we did for most of last season.

It's pretty sad when a team is so horrible that a complete positional overhaul is necessary, and Kahn's had to do it 3 times (first PGs, then SFs, now Cs), and still needs to address SG. It's understandible when you want to change the team dynamic and style, it's still pretty crazy when you look at it though. The ONLY talented pieces we had when Kahn took over were two PF(AL and Love) and two SG (Foye and Miller). We could included Brewer/Gomes, but they weren't very talented when Kahn took over.
Switch Al for a Talented SG or Cap space/picks in which to go after a talented SG, and this team is balanced.
2 solid PGS - Flynn and Sessions
3 wing rotation - Brew/Webs/Snipes (still missing the all star level SG)
3 big man rotation - Love/Darko/Pek
crappyness/9th-12th men - Ellington, Hayward, Bjelic, Hollins
