http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/ex_sun_ready_to_rise_on_broadway_AD5etD0cdoWuYJELkPBzsMWhen (Amare') Stoudemire becomes official, it would end the five-year era of David Lee, but set up a possibility of a sign-and-trade to add another piece. There's been rumors of a three-way trade talk between Golden State, Minnesota and the Knicks where Lee winds up with the Timberwolves, Monta Ellis comes to the Knicks and Al Jefferson goes to Golden State. Lee visited Minnesota yesterday and it has only $7 million in cap room, meaning he'd want a sign-and-trade.
Do the knicks want Ellis? I doubt it.

Why wouldn't they want Monta?

Its tough to see Golden state wanting to do that trade they would have Biedrins, Turiaf, Udoh, Randolph, Wright, Radmanovic, and Jefferson up front.
I still say that if Lee is coming here, we have a deal in place for Love that nets us someone like Favors or Randolph. This is a total roster over haul to make it Rubio/triangle ready.
If by some way we end up with Lee and Favors, individually I feel we lose in overall skill level, but considering the type of system we are trying to employ and compatability with Rubio, we improve significantly. We become much better defensively and athletically.
Darko - Favors - Pekovic
Lee - Favors
Johnson - Webster
Webster - Brewer - Ellington
Flynn - Sessions
Thats an exciting team right there, especially next year with Rubio.

This is like what, our third rebuild in 5 years?

Rebuilding is not very fun. Not fun at all.

true, but this time it looks like we have a purpose behind our moves and attempting to put together something special. Athleticism (play above the rim), defense and passing. Al Jeff is none of those and kevin love is only at 33%.
You have to admit that Rubio with Favors/Lee is much better than Rubio with Jefferson/Love.
Of course this is all speculation as no moves have happened yet.

This event took place in a Knick forum.
"Lee’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, said Saturday that several teams have explored such transactions with the Knicks. Minnesota, where Lee visited Saturday, could be among them, since getting Lee almost certainly means the T-wolves deal Al Jefferson."
New York Fan #1: Thats great news! Things could really be starting to fall in place for our Knicks.
New York Fan #2 response to fan #1: It will only be good news if we get Rubio and 2- 1st round picks.
I am trying to decide whether this response is from someone who is:
1)Too dim-witted for their own good.
2)Utterly oblivious to the value of not only Rubio, but two first round picks?
3)Dreaming.

I don't think trading Jefferson for Lee constitutes rebuilding. Trading Jefferson for cap space and/or draft picks would be rebuilding.

From a Warriors fan's perspective, this is not a good deal for us.
As prefuse stated, we have a pretty crowded front court as is...adding a very highly paid PF/C to the mix in exchange for a guard doesn't make much sense.
Now if Biedrins were to go somewhere in a deal for a bona fide SF (we're not talking Marvin Williams, more like an Iguodala-type of character) then I could see something potentially happening.
Curry/C.Bell
Morrow/R.Williams
Player X/Azubuike
Randolph/Wright
Jefferson/Turiaf/Udoh
But the proposed deal as is, on its own, doesn't work.

The proposed deal doesn't seem to work for any of the three teams, imo.

Your Lee/Love/"young, not ready for primetime PF" speculation is interesting. It offers the potential to be better at the PF both in the short term and the long term.

Lol, David Lee.
Lets trade a post scorer+ rebounder that has a few issues defensively for a garbage scorer+rebounder that has massive problems defensively.

This three team trade makes know sense. Why would the Knicks what to tie up money In Monta Ellis when their hole plan is to get LBJ,Wade,Bosh,Paker,Johnson or maybe Melo this season or next off season to pair up with Amare ? Why would the Warrior give up Ellis to take on Al Jefferson who doesn't real fit Don Nelson's system unless they already have or will have a deal in place to move Biedrins ? why would the Wolves take on David Lee who's just the same type of player as Kevin Love at a older age and higher price.Unless their another trade to move Kevin Love ?
Just doesn't add up.

Plus, you'd be locked in probably on a 5 or 6 yr S&T, doubt Lee already 29 yo is going to go short term on his deal.

Any objective observer would have to admit that the TWolves franchise/management is in disarray. That may not be a change in the staus quo, but it is certainly not encouraging.
If they end up with D. Lee (at the cost of Al Jeff) who else will be gettin off the Kahn bandwagon?
At this point, his "17 month plan" to be heading toward respectability is nowhere. Or if not nowhere, then apparently playing someplace in spain and in no hurry to put on a wolves uni.

Our purpose last time was being a hard knocks inside game halcourt team. Now we are trying to be run and gun wussies who probably score 110 points and have fun seasons but get nowhere in the playoffs. At least we will see huge stats like Flynn getting 20 points 8 rebounds and 12 assists.

Why would we do a blockbuster deal like this and not end up with the shooting guard? If the Warriors want to trade Monte for Al we should just trade Monte for Al IMO. Both Lee and Monte have inflated numbers due to the run and gun style they play, and I wouldn't say either is better than Big Al, but they are close and fit out future system better so I would be happy with landing either.

Since when does anything on here or in the reality of the NBA make any sense? NBA owners pleading poverty and losing millions yet hand out millions to mediocre players.
