New Minnesota Lineup?

Let's say that Al Jefferson doesn't get traded...what does the Minnesota lineup look like next year?

PG - Flynn/Sessions
SG - Johnson/Ellington
SF - Brewer/Webster
PF - Love/Beasley
C - Jefferson/Hollins

Still a little undersized, but definitely a lot of young pieces to work with there. This definitely begs a lot of questions though...

1) What position does Beasley actually play? I know he was drafted as a 4, but his combination of speed, athleticism, and reasonable shooting ability makes me think he can play the 3 also.

2) What's the plan when/if Rubio comes over next season? Even if he doesn't play for the Wolves he'll be a damn good bargaining chip.

I always though Beasley was a starter. So i would put Beasley in front of Love.

Beasley's numbers are a lot better at PF than SF trust me. I've been watching him a long time. But he could play SF if he lost a bit of wight and improved his lateral quickness. Keep him at PF (starter) IMO.

i could see something like...

Flynn/Sessions
Webster/Brewer/Ellington
Johnson/Beasley/Hayward
Love/Beasley
Darko/Pekovic

look at the depth of that team. last year we were giving minutes to Gomes, Pavlovich, Wilkins, Cardinal, Hollns, Jawai, Pecherov,

I could also see Beasley Starting at the 4 to fully utilize him and Love being the 6th man guy that Rambis wants him to be.

Will Minny still be running the triangle offense next season?

were a team that wants to run. i believe the triangle is just like a fall back option

We will be a running team first and when the option to run is not available, we will settle into a triangle-like set with lots of passing and movement. The missing piece is having someone who can create their own shot... which we may have found with Beasley.

I actually think it makes more sense to start Beasley. He is not quite the rebounder Love is but by no means is he a weak rebounder. I still hold out hope that he develops into a Carmelo type SF however. I can actually see both Jefferson and Love dealt this summer.... but we will see

Darko (30) / Pekovic (18)
Beasley (20) / Love (28)
Johnson (30) / Beasley (12) / Webster (6)
Webster (24) / Brewer (24)
Flynn (30) / Sessions (18)

I have feeling though that it will look much different than this by the end of July.

^ I have a feeling that Khan really likes Beasley and that he will probably start. Plus he can create his own shot.

That would be up to Rambis, not Kahn.

Beasley can create for himself a little, but he will grind your offense to a halt.

I think it's too early to speculate on our roster next year. As of now we have far too much clutter, there's no way things can or should stay like this, Jefferson and maybe even Love have to be moved (which I'm fine with) Beasley has Love's range with increased mobility. We sacrifice in rebounding but our Montenegran front should shore us up there.

Neither Darko nor Pekovic are great rebounders. Pekovic is a poor rebounder.

well at this point someone has to be traded. Darkos rebounding may be bad PER wise but he's not abysmal potential wise. He had a few 10+ games for us. I dunno I mean not to be a realist but we're going to suck no matter what at this point

I'd not want to completely dismiss our rebuilding ability right now. Run a Darko/Beasley and Pekovic/Love rotation and figure out which 3 of those players we want to keep.

That said with all the deals Kahn has made this offseason the team does look even less like a future contender to me. Looks like a solid playoff team but without a superstar we're not becoming a contender. More like a team stuck in the middle.

I like this a lot.

C-Darko/Pek/Hollins
PF-Beasley/Love
SF-Johnson/Hayward
SG-Webster/Brewer/Ellington
PG-Flynn/Sessions

And then whatever we get for Al Jefferson, hopefully a starer or young potential starter at SG and sometype of retial back up player.I could still also see Corey Brewer being moved in the deal or in another one.

But if Daved Kahn and company stay with Beasley,Love,Johnson,Flynn and Rubio I think that could be a real good core to build around and bring respect and the Wolves back into the playoff picture within two years.

Keep Brewer ... and package Ellington with Jefferson for a SG to get him outa here. He has no advantage over any opponent we'll face in the next 10 years.

So ...
Gomes, Pavlovich, Wilkins, Cardinal, Hollins, Jawai, and Pecherov
Vs.
Beasley, Johnson, Pekovic, Webster, Hayward, and Bjelica(sp)

that's pretty significant
