Sources: Jazz to get Wolves' Jefferson

The Utah Jazz have quickly moved into the lead to acquire Al Jefferson and were actively trying Monday night to complete a deal with Minnesota, according to NBA front-office sources. Sources told ESPN.com that the Jazz and Timberwolves are engaged in serious discussions on a deal that would slot Jefferson's contract into the $14 million trade exception that Utah created earlier this week in its sign-and-trade deal with Carlos Boozer.
It was not immediately known what Minnesota would receive in return, but Utah can complete such a deal without sending back any players to the Wolves.
Sources have consistently said that the Wolves' main aim in shopping Jefferson in recent weeks is securing multiple future first-round picks and taking back no salary if possible.
The Dallas Mavericks were widely believed to be the most serious suitor for Jefferson in recent days, but the sides have been unable to agree on the terms of a deal.
I'm sorry if this has been covered in another thread, but what do the Jazz have that we want other than cap space? And are we really going to dump this guy to another team in our division and watch him light us up for the next 5 years???

I'm sure it's just Al for capspace and 1 or 2 picks. It'd be nice if it was a 3 teamer and we could at least get some decent picks for Al.

I'm sure a lot of fans are upset over getting Al but for the money he does some things better than Boozer.

Blast, I forgot about Portland and their shenanigans. I envisioned him coming off the bench playing roughly his same 24 mpg, but we're not really contending anyway, so nm. I really want the Memphis pick and/or the Jazz 2012 pick (thanks to LAC)

^ oh okay. Well Memphis and Utahs picks and the TPE for al would be alright I spose.. Maybe Utah can throw 2 future 1sts in there with Memphis pick, might be a bit much though.

Our goal is TPE+ future assets. The term "roll it forward" was something I heard. Meaning, we do not necessarily want more pieces now, but we want wealth in the future and a chance to let our current pieces work themselves out.
If Utah gave the TPE+Mem pick I could see us bitting on that. It is debatable if we see it as value, but it is similar to what the front office has been looking for.
