We received Gomes, Telfair, Green, Al, and Ratliff. Along with our pick returned, and a pick from them right? Who did we take with those picks? One was Ellington correct?

It's my understanding that Flynn wasn't drafted with the pick that was returned to us, but it was really the pick that would be used two years after we shipped our pick to LAC. Right?

Spared from the next two years of his awful contract.

Correct. And it looks like that will actually end up turning into a 2nd.

The situation is further complicated by a league rule that prevents any deals being made involving drafts more than 7 drafts into the future; as a result the Celtics cannot receive Minnesota's pick after the 2012 draft, since the Ricky/Wally trade was made before the 2006 draft. Therefore, if the Timberwolves do not send a pick to the Clippers by the end of the 2010 draft, the Celtics will be unable to receive the Timberwolves' first-round pick in 2012, and will instead receive a second-round pick in 2012.

I know it says us sending them the pick, but thats the one that we got back.

Ah so we really didn't get anything back from them. Ellington for KG. Beast. But of course, we had Gomes to net us Webster, Telfair to net us Q-rich, who got us Blount and Atkins. Gerald Green gave us a 2nd rounder and Kirk Snyder(?). Ratliff I can't remember.

Ratliff was waived.
Gerald Green was traded for Kirk Snyder and a 2010 2nd (Paulao Prestes)
Al was obviously traded for cap space, 2 1sts and Kosta Koufos
Telfair was dealt with Cookie Monster and Madsen for QRich (who was traded for Mark Blount who was waived)
Gomes was dealt with the rights to Luke Babbit for Martell Webster
Wayne Ellington was taken with Boston's 2009 1st rounder
Our own 1st would still wouldn't have been conveyed to them (it would be after LAC gets a 1st from us)

Current net transaction:
-Kevin Garnett
+2 future 1st rounders, Kosta Koufos, Paulao Prestes, part of Martell Webster, and part of Mark Blount who was waived.

*edit* and our own 2nd returned, since apparently that's what it would have been.

It'd be nice if Karma payed us back and had us get someone amazing with one of those 3 1sts...

Atkins came with Wilkins for Etan Thomas and 2 2nds. I still don't understand why that was an attractive deal.

Theo was bought out :)

I know it's not much and not even my money for that matter, but if we're going to compare this, I might as well post that fun fact.

Gerald Green was actually dealt for Kirk Snyder and the 2nd round pick that resulted in Paulao Prestes, but very good visual.

AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! 2 first round picks for Jefferson????? WTF!!!! Those 2 first round picks arent even going to be that high either because the Jazz are good regardless every year....GEEZ no wonder your franchise is horrible. Come on get a new GM or something geez.

I think you've illustrated that we did not receive that much in direct compensation. However, by taking the step back, it put us in position to get out of cap hell as well as net high picks Love, Flynn, Johnson. Thus I don't think this tells the whole story.

The two colossal blunders this franchise made during the KG era was the Joe Smith fiasco that cost us all of those #1's. The ramifications of that are just now being resolved. The second was the Foye for Roy swap. KG would still be in 'Sota had that not occurred.

The better question is whether the franchise is in a better position today as a result of the KG trade. The answer has to be yes because with KG we would have in all likelihood continued to overpay for marginal vets, remaining in cap hell and been good enough to either just miss the playoffs or just squeak in.
