Depth Chart?

Post#1 » by Trueblood » Sat Jul 17, 2010 4:48 pm

I'm an outside fan but have taken some interest in what the TWolves have done this summer. While it can be confusing trying to figure out what Kahn is doing at times, there's no question that there is some talent on the roster. I just wonder how you maximize that talent into a cohesive unit and make sure the egos are content.

Anyways, here is my stab at what the depth chart will look like but any feedback or changes would be appreciated as again, I'm an outsider and haven't had much access to any inside info and what not..

C -Darko/Hollins/Koufos/Stiemsma
PF-Love/Pekovic
SF-Beasley/W. Johnson/L. Hayward
2G-Webster/Brewer/Ellington
PG-Flynn/Ridnour/Sessions

Still a little early since Kahn isn't finished with offseason moves yet. My best guess at this point is:
Darko/Pekovic/Hollins
Beasley/Love
Johnson/Beasley/Webster/Hayward(?)
Webster/Brewer/Ellington
Flynn/Ridnour

I think Sessions, Koufos, Steimsma, and perhaps Brewer are gone by the start of the season.

I am just going to due a depth chart as it stands today.

C-Darko/Hollins/Koufus
PF-Love/Pekovic
SF-Beasley/Webster/Hayward
SG-Johnson/Brewer/Ellington
PG-Flynn/Ridnour/Sessions

But like C.lupus said their still gong to be changes a guys like Sessions,Koufos,Steimsma will be gone.Theirs also a chance that Brewer could be as well.

well right now there is two ways to look at it and it revolves around Beasley and Love. Ideally Beasley can be successful as a SF (particularly on defense as his offensive role is the same regardless of position) and Love gains at least decent lateral quickness to be able to hang with most PF's in the league.

so....

1. The make everyone happy 9 man rotation:

Starters: Darko / Love / Beasley / Webster / Flynn
Bench: Pekovic / Johnson / Brewer / Ridnour

2. The best lineup for our play style.

Starters: Darko / Beasley / Johnson / Webster / Flynn
Bench: Pekovic / Love / Brewer / Ridnour

Darko/Pekovic/Hollins
Beasley/Love
Johnson/Beasley//Hayward
Webster/Brewer/Ellington
Flynn/Ridnour/Sessions

Would be my depth chart right now. Sessions and Brewer (or Ellington) are likely gone before the season starts although I'd regret trading them. Ridnour is only a minor upgrade over Sessions and he's a lot older and Brewer improved MUCH in the past season. Hollins should be gone but sadly we won't find anyone to take him or Kahn won't admit making a mistake. :dontknow:

Johnson likely won't start right from the first game of the season so expect Rambis to try Beasley @ SF or Brewer along with Webster.

If it were up to me, I'd go:

Darko/Pekovic/Koufos
Love/Hollins
Beasley/Brewer/Hayward
Johnson/Webster/Ellington
Flynn/Ridnour/Sessions

C Darko
PF Love
SF Beasley
SG Wes
PG Flynn
6 Brewer
7 Webster
8 Pekovic
9 Ridnour

perfect 9 man rotation, tons of positional flexibility. I'm assuming they're planning on starting Love and Beasley at the forwards judging by what I'm hearing from these guys in their interviews

Flynn
Webster
Beasley
Love
Milicic

Johnson
Brewer
Ridnour
Pekovic

Ellington
Hayward
Hollins
Stiemsma

If they go small, switch Love to the bench, Beasley to PF, and Johnson to starting SG

Looking at the depth chart, this team does begin to look pretty solid. What does this board think is the biggest hole right now? In other words, for whom/what position should Sessions get traded? Backup C?

And what about Rubio? Looking for a trade or wait until he gets here?

The biggest hole is having a no. 1 option. Our team currently consists of a lot of role players. :dontknow:
Expect Sessions to be traded for expirings or cap relief. He won't get anything valueable in return. Kahn is probably trying to unload him.

Yep, no #1... we may have a couples 2's though, Beas and Wes.
I don't think there is a hole, at least not on paper.
Flynn and Ridnour should handle the point well.
Darko and Pekovic should handle the 5 well enough.
Love and Beas will handle the 4 fine.
It really comes down to the wings. Wes, Webster, Beas, Brewer, Wayne and Lazar...
Luckily we've finally got some depth there, I'm not worried about them as a group. Plenty of skills between all of them, but we won't know until they play a few dozen games.
They are a far better group then last years, Gomes, Wilkins and Sasha won't be missed ;)

The depth chart is taking shape but it still looks like a last place lineup. HOpefully, someone will step up and emerge to lead the team and potentially become a goto scorer/player. If not, it will be another long season, but hopefully a bit more entertaining than last.
