Alright I was thinking of this earlier and I wanted to hear what others thought about it. The teams biggest weakness is a SG who can handle and create for others. T-Mac is still available on the free agent market.

We could offer T-Mac a 1 year deal, anywhere between 6-8 million dollars, and he'd more than likely accept it. That way it would put us back over the cap minimum, if certain players are moved for space, and it'd be low risk/high reward. T-Mac could suck up the joint but in the end it'd only be a 1 year deal. Then there is the off chance he plays better than people expected. Then we have ourselves a very nice trade asset to teams looking to boost their roster to get into the playoffs. That is if we aren't in the playoff running ourselves, which I sincerely doubt we're even close to the playoffs.

I'm sure I'm not thinking this through but it seems like it could be a good low risk/high reward scenario without many holes. I'm sure T-Mac would gladly accept a contract of that value for his recent play. Then if it didn't work out all we did was take a chance and didn't really lose anything by it.

At this point in his career I don't think he signs with us. He can wait it out and sign with a playoff team now, during the season after a team loses a player to injury or at playoff time.

Give the minutes to a developing player.

There's a reason why T-Mac is still available. Nobody wants him. He's a broken down shell of his former self that still wants to be "the man." He's basically become this year's Allen Iverson, and like Iverson, I wouldn't want him anywhere near impressionable youngsters on a rebuilding team.

On top of that, we just added 4 young wing players (Johnson, Webster, Beasley and Hayward) on top of the wing players we already had (Brewer and Ellington). All T-Mac does is for this roster is take minutes away from young guys who need them to develop. Paying him 6-8 million dollars to do that would be a very bad move.

A bad idea

T-Mac needs to be a ring chaser. Go to a contending team and give them a push, or go to a lower seed team and try and push them to contention.

We need to focus on player development.

Yeah thats what I forgot about. I was just assuming people like Sessions and Brewer could be on their way out. If that were the case we'd be pretty short on guards since I don't know if either Johnson or Hayward could play there. It was just an off the wall idea I was having earlier about taking a risk and seeing if it could pay off.

If anything, the reason Brewer would be out is because we do not have enough minutes.

In this offense the 1-2-3 are basically the same. The key is defense. We are convinced that Webster can defend the 2. We also have Ellingson. I would believe Johnson could be tried there also.

We do not have minutes for T-mac.

If Brewer could play the 2 guard for us, I don't see any reason that Johnson couldn't. Johnson's a better shooter, just as quick and athletic, and supposedly is a better ball handler. Even if he couldn't, though, we still have Webster and Ellington (and potentially Ridnour) getting minutes there.

As far as defense goes, I think that Johnson might be a better fit at the 2 than the 3. At around 6'7" and 205 pounds, Johnson is pretty much at the ideal NBA SG height and weight. As long as he's quick enough to stay in front of the Kobes and Wades of the league (and he should be), he shouldn't have any problems at the 2 (and potentially less than he would have at the 3 with guys like Lebron and Melo).

Minnesota needs to trade for Rudy Fernandez to get Rubio in the future. If they can't get it done now and i can not imagine them getting him in the future.

He would just ride the bench behind beas, wes, and webster. I doubt that would make rudy happy.

I had the same thought. Everyone knows that Rudy and Ricky have matching half-heart necklaces that say "BFF" on the front and "NBA" on the back. It's pretty much their destiny. All or none. Both or zero. Couldn't agree more...

T-Mac would be a perfect fit with Phoenix or San Antonio.

he doesn't want to play in the NBA because his demands of playing for a contender, being guaranteed 48 minutes as the starting SG, complimentary cheerleader BJs at halftime, and 70% ownership of the franchise aren't being met. The NBA is so mean to Rudy

Tmac is trying to latch onto anyone to prove he isn't damaged beyond repair. at this point he's just trying to feel out if he's going to have to take the vet-min. I think thats what the whole Clip physical is all about.
