I didn't see this posted anywhere, so I thought I'd start a thread about it.

Eh, the Ridnour signing will be something we can evaluate in Jan, when we know a) if he's enthusiastic about playing here b) how well he can run the 1/2triangle-or-whatever that the Wolves run, and c) if his shooting last year was a fluke. Until we know these answers it's just pissing in the wind to "evaluate" the trade one way or the other.

Clearly Kahn and Rambis weren't satisfied with Sessions, so they went and got Ridnour. Makes enough sense to me.

Meh ... Ridnour bails us out of the Session deal ... I'd call it atleast a B for the Wolves.

I wouldn't call collecting 3rd tier PG's a B. :dontknow:

You have to get rid of Sessions first before you can subtract him. We should've just kept Sessions and not added Ridnour. Ridnour won't be much better than Sessions was last season playing behind Jonny Flynn.

He'll be better. Better shooter, better ball-handler, and better passer while the defense and contracts are about the same. We would not have signed Ridnour without intentions of trading Sessions. We've hung on to Sessions to make sure Flynn's hip is okay before signing the dotted line. Kahn has basically made this public.

So what happens next year when we bring Rubio over?

Assuming Rubio gets 30 mpg, that leaves 18 minutes for Flynn and Ridnour.

I hope Flynn is traded. Ridnour can also play the 2 guard some, as he did with Brandon Jennings this season.

I think that there are still hopes that Flynn and Rubio can play together. I see Flynn like a Jason Terry that plays mostly PG instead of mostly the SG, there maybe there are more minutes for Flynn. Plus, next year, he'll have two seasons of experience with the system, which I think the FO would like to hold onto unless Flynn could get us a nice package.

Haven't we been through this, though? How on earth does he defend NBA 2-guards while standing 6' tall? And if they just switch off on D, OK, but then he still has to shoot over guys 5-6" taller than he does..

I'm not against 2 PGs in principle; it could work. But is Jonny the guy? I doubt it.

You can't just "so what?" this question. We are playing for next year. We chose to pay Luke Ridnour $16 mil through 2014. If he reverts back to the medicority he's shown for most of his career, what exactly are you prepared to give up to move his salary off this team?

The Cow has it right here - every move should be based on the assumption that rubio is coming over.

So the Wolves should sign Ridnour to a 4 year deal on a non-playoff team so that they can turn around and sign Rubio next year, meaning they'll once again be forced to look to dump a PG they don't want a year after they signed him?

If Rubio gets 30 mpg that still only leaves 18 for Flynn even without Ridnour.

Writing on the wall: either Rubio or Flynn will be traded next year (probably Flynn). The Ridnour signing is irrelevent to that decision and merely assures us of a capable veteran back up for the foreseeable future.

Yeah I think it's clear one of Flynn or Rubio are gone now. I believed Kahn when he said he thought they could play together but Rambis is violently opposed to playing guys out of position so it won't be happening with him on the bench.
