Will the Khan comments be an issue?

I am wondering if you guys think the pot comments are going to piss off Beasley at all. I am sure Khan has probably already contacted him (or his agent) to explain what he meant and all that, but I wonder if there will be any lasting effects.
BTW, I found this in rube chat...

Doubt it. That's a sick photo though

Also doubt it. When people talked Michael Beasley and marijuana/depression/etc in Miami, they talked about what it meant about Michael Beasley. When people talk about it Minnesota, they are only talking about David Kahn. Seems like an improvement.

Yeah thats how I feel. I actually listened to the audio and it sounds like Khan is defending Beasley more than anything else. I just know how the internet and ESPN can twist things around and I am just hoping it doesn't rub Super Cool the wrong way.
The pic does invoke a desire to see what the "slightly altered" uniforms will look like. Hopefully those trees on the neck are axed (pun inteneded).

Yeah, the trees are stupid.

I liked the trees on the old KG-era jersey, but why hold on to something from the past? that's what the retro's and throwbacks are for.

I think it was kind of rude when Kahn said Beasley was "really immature," and if Michael wanted to be sore at something like that, he could be. But I hope not/doubt it. This should be so much nothing in just a few days, and not even a shadow of dust blown past come October/November.
I am so looking forward to what Michael Beasley can do. If we at any point get a real groove going with him and Love and Darko/Pek.... Whoo! That has the potential to be a lot of fun to watch.

If Beasley doesn't like it he should look in the mirror, Kahn wasn't making anything up.

Michael Beasley isn't the only immature guy. David Kahn is immature, too. I hate his obsession to speak to the media. No point on making such statements in front of the media. He can tell Beasley that in private or in front of the team but not in front of the media.

Agreed. I think it's like he's trying to change public and media perceptions about him with this and that C-Webb-Darko comparison and trying to get people on-board but says the "wrong thing" and ultimately shoots himself in the foot.

I don't think he cares about public perception. I agree with whoever has said he's got a big ego but I think the guy is just honest and that ends up getting him in more trouble then he'd like. He'd fit right in here at realgm or any other message board but he obviously struggles with the spotlight.

Kahn's made a concious decision to run his mouth, that doesn't mean every comment is well thought out but he definitely wants the organization to have the reputation of being transparent.

Kahn's personal history includes being an attorney and a sportswriter. Both occupations have a reputation of not caring what others think of you.
My personal belief is that as long as you are doing a good job at what you do, people won't care as much about what you are saying to the media.
Look at Mark Cuban. He's had his star PF speak out against him before:
He's got to learn how to control himself as well as the players do. We can't lose our temper all the time on the court or off the court, and I think he's got to learn that, too. He's got to improve in that area and not yell at the officials the whole game. I don't think that helps us.... He sits right there by our bench. I think it's a bit much. But we all told him this before. It's nothing new. The game starts, and he's already yelling at them. So he needs to know how to control himself a little.
And yet, he is criticized no where near the amount that Kahn is. Why? Because he wins.
When Kahn and the Timberwolves start to win, the critics will slow.

It's pathetic that as a society we punish blunt and truthful statements while praising deceptive and untruthful statements. This is how we end up with a political/pundit class who deceive and lie constantly while only having to concern themselves with not deviating from the "acceptable" discourse. Of course since they largely determine what that discourse all they have to concern themselves with is the occasional slip-up, open mic, cell-phone camera, etc.
Nothing Kahn said is new information that has had not been disclosed or discussed intensively by those to whom it was addressed. Sadly if he would have plead ignorance or outright lied about the matter few would have batted an eyelash.

He's #8 now. Damn, it's weird seeing him in a Twolves jersey.

Somehow I don't think smoking weed is good for a world class athlete. How much it affects his game would depend on how much he smokes.

It's not about honesty its about talking about a sensitive issue that is not even your own. IF Kahn was talking about himself smoking too much weed that would be one thin.g He's talking about another person. Doesn't matter if hardcore NBA fans know all of this or not. He's volunteering personal information on another person that many paint in a negative light.

I don't seem to recall you or anyone else taking this stand when Kahn would make similar statements/arguments about Darko, specifically his time in DET. The last part is especially worrisome given how
everything Kahn says or does is portrayed in a negative light.

All I am talking about is the drug use. I don't think it's an issue to say someone is struggling or even immature as long as you aren't belittling them. He never said anything about Drako taking too many drugs. There are levels of severity about what is being discussed.
