Jefferson: From Toyota to Bentley

Post#1 » by Klomp » Mon Jul 26, 2010 9:24 pm

True, but harsh words.
Al Jefferson wrote:“I go from being in a Toyota to a Bentley. It’s a beautiful thing.”

Now, he did go on to complement the city and our fans...

Al Jefferson wrote:Al Jefferson isn’t upset with the Minnesota Timberwolves for trading him. Not at all. After winning just 15 games last season, he’s thankful to be moving to the Utah Jazz, whose playoff appearances are an annual rite of spring. Staying with the Timberwolves would have meant only more rebuilding.

“They have a nice group of guys, but will have a couple more losing seasons,” Jefferson said of the T’wolves. “Minneapolis is my home away from home. I respect the fans that have supported me through the good and the bad … but when I told people I played for Minnesota, some people didn’t even know they had a team. Everybody knows about Utah. Everyone knows the Utah Jazz.

Saw that, it's meh to me. He said that some people didn't even know Minnesota had a team and then he said that... I still wish him well though.

Ouch with the Toyota comparison. Not a good year to be compared to one of those. It's like Kahn is the driver of a runaway Toyota after the breaks have failed and he just can't stop.

How about a Ford? Seems Ford has been down on it's luck for a long time but is primed to make a come back. Jazz? meh, more like a Honda -- reliable, will always keep you in the race, but will never be first to cross the finish line.

Bentley? Ok...Sure the Jazz are gonna be better, can get a mid to low seed playoff spot but they're not going to be all that. More like a Toyota to a Jaguar.

Well he is from Mississippi. Down there they know the Jazz because of Karl Malone.

Buy american Al.

It is ironic that he makes a car comparison after being busted with a DWI.

He shouldn't say that, it is about his class.

Why shouldn't he say that? It's funny and he's right. KG basically said the same thing after he was traded, and he had better experiences with the Wolves than Jefferson did. Going from a 15 win team to a consistent playoff team has to feel good.

Well he could have just left it at "It's nice to finally be on a playoff team." But I can think of worse car analogies.

Portland fan here. Saw this earlier, and thought it was a dick statement. Classy of you guys as fans, I think, to have a thread about it, and nobody is pissed, or saying anything negative about him. Just seems like when Bosh made his comment about being a caged wolf or whatever, people thought he was a jerk, and this one gets passed up. Maybe Al needs to look in the mirrror, and find out why a team needing a franchise guy doesn't mind moving him for cap space and picks. Maybe that's just me. Kudos to you guys, though.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
