Anthony Tolliver?

Post#1 » by Klomp » Wed Jul 28, 2010 4:41 pm

Chatted w/ free-agent Anthony Tolliver's agent. He talked w/ Kahn yest. #Twolves are 1 of 3 teams they're strongly considering. Choice soon.

I would be okay with it. He'd be a decent 5th big who can stretch the defense. I hope it's for a small 1 year deal just to put us above the minimum salary.

Man his defense is garbage. He put up 12 and 7 with the Warriors but he doesn't seem too impressive..I guess he can play pf/c but he's only 6'9...

I'd prefer him over Hollins and the crap bigs we had last year. Koufos, Pek, and Tolliver wouldn't be so bad.

I assume he means our bench bigs.

But really, though:

Darko/Pekovic/Koufos?
Love/Beasley

Love, Beasley, and Pekovic need lots of minutes in my mind, (Beasley will get some at SF, but that spot is pretty filled with players too) Is it worth paying a 5th/6th big more than the minimum for garbage minutes?

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Basically what I was thinking too. Love is going to want 30+minutes this season. Beasley too most likely.

C-Darko(25)-Pekovic(23)-----0
Pf-Love(32)-Beasley(12)-------4 minutes for Tolliver
Sf-Beasley(20)-Webster(22)-Hayward(6)
Sg-Wes(26)-Brewer(20)-Webster(2)
Pg-Flynn(28)-Ridnour(20)

Right now we really just have too many solid players, I hope Kahn has a plan to either get a bigger player, or he thinks he'll be able to package a couple players with our pick to move up next offseason.

There's no room on this roster for Tolliver.

thats why we gotta open up minutes by trading Kevin Love for that one guy that was drafted way too high, but he's still young so he's got sweet potential (value!) and plus that guy is way more athletic than Love so he fits our wacky waving up and down above the rim flying triangle system

Now you got not one, but TWO guys better for the SYSTEM - all for the low cost of trading a role player away

I already got a Tolliver highlight avatar ready if anybody is interested

Koufus is already on the roster, is not going to get us anything significant in a trade, doesn't cost much, and can provide a little upside as 5th big getting a couple minutes here and there. No point in Tolliver.

lulz. Yeah, but what position would he play?? We already have one of those at every position!

What about a S/T Koufus for Tolliver? I think KK would get some burn in Oakland.

Is burn slang for some kind of drug? Nellie's allergic to ACTUAL big men.

I'd rather keep Kouf. The team really only needs a warm body to play garbage minutes and step in for injuries. Kouf might want more playing time than that, but I don't think he'd get that much anywhere that could give us a decent deal in return.

Perhaps Rambis will only want to play Love 30, not play Hayward (D-League?), and use Beasley more exclusively to develop those skills. I wouldn't be too surprised by this:

C-Darko(28)-Pekovic(20)-----0
Pf-Love(30)-Beasley(6)-------12 minutes for Tolliver
Sf-Beasley(26)-Webster(22)
Sg-Wes(26)-Brewer(15)-Webster(7)
Pg-Flynn(28)-Ridnour(20)

...

Or something like that. But I agree, it seems like a waste, where we could just get some min salary prospect, or give the minutes to Koufos.

Would anyone be surprised if Beasley got most of his minutes at SF? I think if he proves he can play there then that's where they'd want him to be. Then you could run a 3 wing rotation of Webster, Johnson and Beasley with Brewer getting the rest of the minutes and Love and Tolliver with enough at PF for them.

I've had the pleasure of coaching and trading Tolliver before. Nice dude and good to see him succeeding.
