yep.

I want JR Smith on the squad, I think he's got the offensive firepower we need for minimal investment

Beasley, JR Smith and Delonte West on the same team. SUCH SWAGGER. Minnesota Ganjawolves anyone?

Seriously though, I'd probably do this trade. We might see some fire on the court for once instead of the defeatist lack of competitive spirit we've gotten used to over the past few years, ie. no guys with intensity.

Hell yeah :D I'd like to have JR as much as the next guy, but come on. This trades not really realistic. Go put this on the Denver board and see how they react haha

Thats why I wouldn't post it on the Denver or trade forum, they'd have no interest because the perception isn't really in line with reality. I break it down like this: from an ownership and coaches standpoint, you're knocking off around 3 million, plus I believe they're over the luxury tax so 2x savings, and then you're appealing to the coaching staff by bringing in a guy thats a team player, no attitude problems at all. Above all, JR didn't have a good season last year, he didn't shoot the ball well at all and thats his main skill. Brewer put up better percentages and he has upward momentum in his career coming off last season, JR has downward momentum. Its not a slam dunk trade at all, its a risky trade for the Wolves that they could easily lose out on, but I think its the type of trade we can afford to make. Koufos is just icing on the cake getting a big man prospect that they don't have on the roster.

I might consider this if Beasley stays cool through the whole year. But I'd rather focus on one guy that needs special attention then go out and add another one.

I supported going after JR Smith, too, but now that we acquired Michael Beasley we shouldn't acquire a 2nd headcase.

J.R. Smith makes too much money to be a Wolf... haha... kidding. I also support the thought... who's not a knucklehead in the NBA? AC Green?... haha.

Smith played like crap in the playoffs, acted completely unmotivated. We don't need that kind of headcase on the team...

J.R. Smith bringing a competitive spirit? Maybe for about 5-10 games. He would be even worse on a team with zero veteran leadership.

I really can't figure out why everyone wants to trade a highly motivated, hard working, and constantly improving player in Brewer for a player who is the opposite.

My logic might be a little backwards here, admittedly, but I feel like we've got a group of players who are almost too accustomed to losing. You don't want to see them smiling and joking with each other when they're getting blown out.

JR Smith, yes, he is a headcase to some degree, but he is used to winning with the Nuggets. Sometimes the Wolves look like they're going through the motions and I get the feeling Smith's presence would stir a fire in some of them. Just speculation, really, I don't expect a move like this to actually happen. :p

Me neither. Brewer has shown the determination to work as hard as needs to to make it in the league. At the beginning of last season I was ready to be rid of him, but thought he would get one more chance and blow it. As it is, he finally developed into some of the NBA player people thought he could be. Now we can see that if he keeps developing the way he has, he will be a big time asset. He won back to back championships in college, you know, and I think that having guys like him and Love who are frustrated with losing but willing to work on their own games to make the difference is something worthwhile.

From a very simple POV, Brewer isn't worth nearly as much in exchange as he is if he develops with us. Furthermore, he knows the system and has blossomed as much as he has with the current coaching staff. He's going to be invested here. Unless someone offers a proven good player in return, why trade him? :-?

I guess that could happen, but I would seriously doubt it.

I think it'd be more like JR to have us lose a couple of games and just quit on us the rest of the year and bring the team down even more...
