It's hard to get a lot of rebounds if you block every shot.

Qualifying Round Day 2: FINLAND - MONTENEGRO 60-74

Date: August 5, 2010
Montenegro made a successful trip to Finland in the second round of the 2011 EuroBasket Qualification. Vladimir Dasic scored 12 points to pace well-balanced Balkan team to the second straight win in Group A. Finland in the meantime slipped at 0-1 record. Vladimir Dasic and Vladimir Dragicevic ensured a 5:0 start for Montenegro in this one. Finland reacted with 10 points in a row to surge in front. But the visitors capped the period with 9 points consecutive points to lead by 4 at the first break. Vladimir Dasic knocked down 5 points at the start of the second frame to trigger an 8:0 run that enlarged the gap. Finland narrowed the deficit but Goran Jeretin notched timly five points and Montenegro ran away for a 31:21 lead at halftime. Suad Sehovic drained a triple at the beginning of the third term to keep things rolling Montenegros way. Finland could not get any closer in the third tem moreover the visitors stretched the lead to as many as 18 points with ten minutes remaining. Finland were able to get within 13 points midway through the fourth term but it was not enough to threaten Montenegro as those rallied to the victory. Nikola Pekovic, Vladimir Dragicevic and Goran Jeretin produced 9 points each for Montenegro. Teemu Rannikko answered with 20 points for Finland. Gerald Lee had 12 points and 7 boards in the loss.

Finland fronted Pekovic in the post and doubled with a backside defender whole game long, basically forcing other players to beat us, which they did. Montenegro was in cruise control the whole match. Most impressive thing about Pekovic was the way he regained composure after two very questionable fouls he picked up.

Hopefully Montenegro dominates this group.

Took a look at the live boxscore. With just under 3 minutes left, Pek with 22 points, 4 rebounds, 4 fouls, and his team up 8 ish. Not bad against Bargs. I would like to here more analysis and detail, but decent numbers again.

I'm so excited to see this guy beast in the NBA. I still think lots of foul trouble is most likely the first half of the year, but he just seems too big and too good to not be a servicable player in the NBA.

FYI, I believe he finished with 28 points, shot a ridiculous percentage (last I saw was 10/14) and fouled out Bargs. No official numbers, just what I caught off the Raps board. Still, a very solid showing. Oh, and his team won.
