Wolves Sign Tolliver

Forward Anthony Tolliver, one of the top free agents left out of a very thin crop, has reached an agreement to sign with Minnesota.
Tolliver's agent, Larry Fox, told FanHouse on Friday his client will join the Timberwolves. While Fox wouldn't discuss terms, sources said he'll get a two-year deal that could be worth as much as $4.8 million.
"He's really excited,'' Fox said. "He can play (power forward) for them and be a stretch (small forward).''
The 6-foot-9 Tolliver, 25, averaged 11.7 points and 7.0 rebounds last season in 46 games with Portland and Golden State. Take away a scoreless two games with the Trail Blazers early in the season and he averaged 12.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in 44 games with the Warriors.
Golden State had strong interest in re-signing Tolliver. But in the end the Timberwolves, which had cleared a spot for Tolliver by trading Ryan Hollins last week, were thought to be the better option.
"They really wanted him,'' Fox said of the Timberwolves. "It was like college recruiting. We were out there last Sunday, and they took us to a Twins game.''
Tolliver has played two NBA seasons after being undrafted out of Creighton. He spent parts of 2008-09 with Cleveland and San Antonio. After being waived last December by Portland, he finally got his chance after he joined the injury-riddled Warriors last January.
http://nba.fanhouse.com/2010/08/06/agen ... minnesota/According to wyn, the salary structure is $2,300,000 / $2,484,000 (Note: Hollins' salary is $2,333,333 / $2,483,333)

I still don't quite understand this but, for the money, he's an improvement over Hollins.

I hate to admit it, but he kind of has the game of Brian Scalabrine.

Darko/Pek
Love/Tolliver/B-Easy
B-Easy/Johnson/Lazar
Webster/Brewer/Wayne
Ridnour/(Flynn)
Nice pickup, hope there's enough time for everyone. We are solid in the starting lineup & bench. It's all about learning, development, & chemistry. I honestly think we are gonna surprise a lot of people. Hope we can get in the 30s range for wins. All we need is that #1 option.
2011/12
Darko/Pek
Love/B-Easy/Tolliver
Melo/B-Easy/Lazar
Johnson/Webster/Ellington
Rubio/Ridnour/Flynn
We need to trade Brewer & a PG. That's a very nice team right there. I would hope Melo would take a look at our squad if he becomes a FA. I know it's a long shot but cool to think about.

I nice solid pick up,not a start by any means but a good back up PF to KLove.I think our roster is pretty much set for next season,
PG-Ridnour/Telfair/(Flynn)
SG-Johnson/Brewer/Ellington
SF-Beasley/Webster/Hayward
PF-Love/Tolliver
C-Darko/Pekovic/Koufos
Now we still need a true starting SG unless Johnson turns into one or can actually play SG,which I think he can. This should be a real nice young team this year and for the future once Rubio comes over.I am might be going a little over board but I think the Wolves will win 30 to 35 games this year and make a playoff push in 2011 if their is no lock out.

Next offseason he will be the Hollins of this offseason, a useless small contract that we want to get rid of.

http://www.startribune.com/sports/wolve ... olves.htmlIn addition to his career-high scoring game against the Wolves, he scored 29 points in a February game against the Clippers and 30 against the Hornets in March.
He plans to arrive in Minnesota Sunday to practice for a few days with new teammates Beasley, Wes Johnson, Lazar Hayward and free agent and former lottery pick Joe Alexander who also will be in town then.

Sadly, I kind of agree with you. I think Tolliver has shown
something in the NBA, unlike Hollins, and his contract is shorter than Hollins's was, but this is still an unnecessary expenditure for a player who won't get minutes behind Love, Beasley, Johnson, Brewer, etc.

This would have been worthwhile for a defensive role player, but this guy seems like a less talented version of what we already have, with similar weaknesses.

OMG a former lottery pick who is voluntarily in Minnesota signnnnn hiimmmm!!!!
But seriously, Tolliver is a fine pickup. I wonder if this implies that we will be using Beasley a little more exclusively at SF.
