MIN - NOH

Post#1 » by shrink » Wed Aug 11, 2010 10:25 pm

MIN GETS: Belinelli

NOH GETS: Telfair + Koufos

(simultaneous trades, using one of NOH's TPE)

NOH gets an expiring back-up PG for Chris Paul, and Koufos provides some size behind Okafor. Two cheap, short-term back-ups that fill the roster.

MIN gets Belinelli's $2.3 mil expiring, a roster spot that Greg Steimsma's happy to see, and $1.7 mil in cap space

I don't think they'll be trading Belli any time soon
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

I took a look at sham's line-up with both trade now in the books.

PG Chris Paul /
SG Marcus Thornton / Marco Belinelli
SF Trevor Ariza / Peja Stojakovic / Quincy Pondexter
PF David West / Darius Songaila / Craig Brackins
C Emeka Okafor / Aaron Gray

Looks like they can't afford to send Belinelli away because they need the SG, but they need to generate a piece of Belli's approximate value and contract size to get two pieces that would fit on the team. NOH has plenty of TPE's, but is broaching the lux right now, and I can't imagine they'd cross it.

I think the best chance is a three-way, where Peja is broken into smaller pieces, and hopefully one of those pieces gives NOH a piece that fits a Telfair - Koufos trade.

I'd be all for the deal, but I would agree that they aren't likely to move Belli right now. Peja is their next piece for movement, but it's going to take about half of the teams in the league to get his contract broken down. As long as the Wolves are not the team ending up with Peja, I'm game for getting involved as long as we get either a pick or an expiring in the deal.
