NOTE TO ALL PARTICIPANTS: PLEASE REGISTER AT WWW.BUILDATEAM.FREEFORUMS.ORG SO WE CAN PROCEED WITH THE DRAFT ASAP.
As some of you know the Nets + Wolves boards have been organizing a build-a-team event. I am going to be organizing the event and doing the simulation.
Here is a link to the official thread:
viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1046025If you signed up in the past I would appreciate it if you would leave a post saying whether or not you're still in.
It's going to take me some more time to finalize the rule and edit / correct the rosters but hopefully we can get the draft going while I do that.
If you have any questions about how this is going to be run post them here or over there, I'll check both threads sporadically.
Right now it's looking like the format is going to be:
- I simulate 10-15 games, post stats for each team's roster + team stats + standings: (2-3) days.
- Teams are allowed to sign free agents + makes trades (4-5 days+)
And then just rinse and repeat until the simulated season is over.
The performance of each team will be judged on a number of factors which have yet to be determined so I'll get back to you with more on that later (the winner of this even't isn't necessarily the player who wins the NBA championship rather it's the player that built the best team)

http://buildateam.freeforums.org/We need some easy way for members to contact one another and since private messaging on RealGM is never going to work in our lifetime... The forum is really for organizational purposes more than anything else, I don't really want to create multiple threads on RealGM and bribe JJ or Rich to sticky them all.

There's still one more Western Conference team available (the Rockets) if anyone else wants in. There's a couple Eastern spots open, too.

Is someone going to notify us the draft information, like the day before it starts, as a reminder on this board? I don't check anything as frequently as this board, so it'd be nice if someone could post the reminder in here.

Once I get everything finalized I'll pass the info. on to C.Lupus and ask him to private message all the participants on RealGM with the details.

Alright so here's the status:
viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1046025I have all of the rules up, all the teams are filled, and I randomized the draft order.
So I think we're good to go. We just need to determine WHEN THE DRAFT IS GOING TO START.We could do the draft, etc. on RealGM but because this simulation is going to take multiple threads / stickys / etc. I've set up an individual forum for this game @:
www.buildateam.freeforums.orgPlease register on the forum when you get the chance as it will be A LOT easier to communicate with the other players in the game and keep track of player statistics, etc.
C.LUPUS can you do me a favor and private message all of the participants in this thing?Basically all I need for you to do is to:
- Inform them that the simulation draft will be starting very soon (the draft order is here btw:
http://buildateam.freeforums.org/post14.html#p14)
- Refer them to the 1st page of the build-a-team thread on the Nets board (it's been updated and explains everything that needs to be done):
viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1046025- Ask them to register at:
www.buildateam.freeforums.orgHere's a list of all the participants (and yeah I spelled your name wrong, my bad

)

At least we're not in the bottom 3.

Anyone know the strategy behind making picks in this game? What is the value comparison between taking youth (i.e. Rose) versus established, older stars (i.e. Duncan, Kobe)? Is it important to have good depth at each position, or should you just be taking BPA everywhere? I know that being a contender/rebuilder makes a difference, too, in your scoring criteria.

IDK, that's a lot to ask after putting me
28th.

For the first round, top 30, honestly speaking.... You take the best player available and build from there.
Worry about age and contract in the other rounds.
That's one strategy, some people like to go completely young.

I don't want to comment too much but fit is important if you have 5 guys in the starting lineup who all like to take 20 shots a game just like in real life someone is going to see their stats cut into and they won't necessarily be providing you with the most bang for your buck.

Wow, first overall selection..... hmmm, may be willing to trade down to pick up a few assets. Not looking to drop far (sorry to those with late picks) but mayeb 5ish spots. Registered in other thread for offers. When does this start again?

All I can say is soon, I'd like to get a few more members to sign up on the other forum and then we can start the draft.
End of next week at the latest though.
And don't hate KLUMP.

If I have my time zones correct, that makes it 5:00pm in Germany (?) and December in Australia.
