Re: Wolves starting 5 in 2010-11?
My guess is
Ridnour
Webster
Beasley
Love
Milicic
But the only 2 I'm sure about is Ridnour, because Flynn is injured, and Milicic. I'd start Love and Beasley mainly because those 2 will be probably be most upset if they don't, and I don't see any reason to rock the boat unless/until that's proven to not be what's best for the team.

Re: Wolves starting 5 in 2010-11?
I really doubt anyone will know for sure until after training camp at the earliest. There are just too many new guys on the roster to say one way or the other.
The only guy I would say for sure will be a starter opening day is Ridnour because Flynn is injured.
As for the other spots:
C - Darko is probably going to start, but Pekovic might be able to steal the spot from him with a strong camp.
PF - Love is the likely starter, but Beasley might be able to take the job if he appears to be more of a PF and it is determined that Love is more useful coming off the bench
SF - Completely up in the air. At this point, I think that everyone is hoping that Beasley can show that he can play minutes at the SF and be the starter, but if he can't, it could be any of Johnson, Webster, or Brewer.
SG - Again, up in the air. Could be any of Webster, Brewer, or Johnson, and most likely in that order for the beginning of the year at least.
PG - Ridnour, but will likely change once Flynn's healthy.

What he said ^^^ except I would maybe put the wings in this order: Johnson, Webster, Brewer. I think they'll want to give Johnson every opportunity to start right away and show his worth as the #4 pick in the draft. Kahn has already stated that we're not going to contend this year, so why mess around with the other guys?

Ball-handling will determine alot at SG/SF ... if Wes is not a better ball-handler, then I see no reason Brewer and Webster should not play ahead of him. Ellington could be the bubble guy ... a cheap keep or trade filler.
Top 8...
Ridnour/Flynn a Guard
Brewer/Johnson/Webster rotating well at the wing position.
Love/Beas/Darko/Pek as a solid big man rotation.
Injuries will determine changes

Flip response to Love wanting out, "He has no reason to be upset, you're either a part of the problem or a part of the solution"

Re: Wolves starting 5 in 2010-11?
Hi guys,
I’m new to this board, but have been a Timberwolves fan since back in the day when Googs, Sealy, Pooh, Mitchell and KG were playing hard. I want to put in my 2 cents about the starting 5 to start the 2010-11 season…get used to hearing from me! I love this team and really want them to do well.
PG – Ridnour. He’s a pass first veteran PG and can shoot. Telfair will play solid minutes to start the season, but once Flynn is back and healthy, he should reclaim the starting role.
SG – Brewer knows the system, started all 82 games last year and was one of the most improved in the league. Became a dependable scorer with 17 points or more in 30% of games played, is a great defender and plays with heart 100% all of the time.
SF – Beasley has a lot to prove to the critics. Often labeled a head case, he has a great opportunity to flourish in this system and Rambis is the right coach to help keep this kids head screwed on. He has potential to become the go-to scorer on this team.
PF – Love, without a doubt. With Al Jefferson gone, he’s now the leader of this team. He’s a rebounding machine, and with a World Championship Gold Medal under his belt, he wants to win.
C – Milicic played just 24 games last season with the Timberwolves and his play improved over the last 19 games where he averaged 10 pts, 5.5 rebs, 2 asts, 1.3 blks and shot 50%. I expect better things from him this season because he has more confidence and finally feels wanted.
Telfair, Martell, Johnson, Tolliver, Pekovic and Ellington will all play vital roles off the bench. This is a rebuilding year, so I expect Rambis to keep the same starting 5 throughout the majority of the season (depending on injuries) and look to build with one more solid addition. Rambis does not give rookies big minutes straight away – they have to earn them. It will come down to who’s the best combination, who plays the hardest and who wants to win. I think the first 10 games of the season will show that.

Nice first post! Welcome!
I actually agree with you on all five spots. I don't think either Love or Beasley will start out the year on the bench. With how Darko is talked about by Rambis, he'll obviously start. Ridnour is starting until Flynn comes back. And I think Brewer's experience will win out at SG.
Eventually, I could easily see for sure Brewer and maybe Beasley slide to the bench. Beasley could really be a sparkplug for our second unit like Ginobili is in SA or Odom is in LA.

I think you might be spot on there. I get the feeling Rambis will start Brewer to begin with, as he likes what he brings on the defensive end and he spent all last season in the starting 5. But Webster or Johnson will end up taking his place.

Brewer has been improving every year, I hope he gets his chance again this year to see if he's improved anymore.

I'm not a Wolves fan typically But I tend to cheer for the underdogs/small markets once they have been down for a while.
I was so impressed with Love this Summer during th FIBA games. I happily ate my crow. I like Wesley Johnson too, was a little surprised Kahn drafted him so high though. Johnson played very well last March.
To me Beasley is the ultimate wild card. The kid is busting out with talent, I just wonder if he can find the right role?
Can he be that go to scorer? That is a lot to ask from him right now considering his recent history.
Spark plug off the bench would be nice, but can he accept coming off the bench?
Seems to me like his ego is pretty delicate these days.
I'm really curious to see how your team shapes up.
Although I don't really think there is a method to Kahns madness other than throwing enough crap on the wall hoping that some of it sticks, he has brought in a couple intriguing prospects.
By December your team could easily look like it has a bright future or it could just as easily look like a dumpster fire.
I hope for the fans sake it is the former.

Hey guys I am starting my fantasy league soon and we got to drop players. What's the deal with Flynn, how long is he injured? And will he be getting a lot of minutes with Luke and Telfair in the mix? Thanks for any "insider info"!
