EDIT: Dishnetwork to lose FSN?

An announcement ran across the bottom of the screen during tonight's Twins game saying FSN might lose the Twins/Wild/Wolves starting Oct. 1st! WTF is this ****?
I'll be so pissed off if this happens.
EDIT: Dishnetwork to lose FSN. NOT FSN to lose games.

I believe I had heard something about this too. If it happens, my guess is to KSTC. probably why the local schedule hasn't been released.

I looked it up a bit, its with Dish Network. Contract issues apparently. Hopefully Directv doesn't have the issue, then i'll switch for sure.

So FSN won't lose anything, but Dish will lose FSN?

That's the impression I got when I saw the advert.

Direct TV FTW.
Last year they charged more for FSN and other sport channels rather than losing them. I think in a couple years we will just be eating good pie and not watching on TV.

Shrug. Doesn't matter for me, since Comcast recently f-ed me over and took away all the cable stations despite the fact that I pay for "cable."

I freakin love my job. I sell DTV and Qwest Fiber Optics, this is just a cherry on top. No one will ever confuse the two dish companies again!

Just contract negotiation time again. It usually gets resolved because there is so much at stake. Like a mass exodus from dish network when people can't get their fave sports teams or major viewer backlash at fox. Just a big game of chicken.
This is what happens when all tv and cable media consolidates into 6 big companies (fox, turner/timewarner, viacom, disney, nbc universal, Liberty Media). And expect even more of this crap now that comcast is buying (essentially bailing out) 51% of nbc universal from GE. You can expect comcast to really bust the balls of the satellite providers for their nbc content now.
Fox (newscorp) had a controlling stake in DirecTV (39%) from 2003-2008 until it exchanged that stake for the 16% of Newscorp which Liberty Media owned. So, Liberty Media currently controls DirecTV.
Liberty was also once bought by and later spun off of AT&T.
DirecTV was originally started by the company Howard Hughes founded, merged with another Satellite company, was sold to GM (yes the car company), sold to Fox, then Liberty Media.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_DirecTV_GroupLiberty Media also owns the Discovery channels, Encore, Starz, and QVC.
Dish Network, on the other hand, was started by Charles Ergen in 1980 and still remains under the same ownership. So they are at disadvantage when it comes to negotitations, seeing as they don't own any of their own programming, or have other incestuous corporate interests like comcast and direcTV do.

dunkonyou, you gonna play fantasy again?
last year, unless I'm confused, your team was Marko Jaric right?
I just sent you another invite.
Otherwise breakdown has spoken for your spot.
Rev, sorry, we filled up the league I started.
We had 2 other leagues last year (one 12 team roto, one 20 team)
which I think big3_8_19_21 started.
I'm sure you and your brother can get into one of those.
If he doesn't want to renew those leagues I can start up a big 20 team league
again. That league was alot of fun last year.

Thanks for all the info on "who owns what" in TV and media land. Interesting stuff.
Would anyone be up for an auction draft this year? I think that might be fun.
Also, the 20 teamer and roto leagues were good too. If that 1st league switches to a keeper, we'd have a major chunk of the fantasy bball universe covered.

Auction draft might be fun.
I sent a reminder to the commish of the other 2 leagues from last year,
If he doesn't want to renew them in a couple weeks, I'll start up them up myself.
Sorry breakdown, but dunkonu took the last spot and the keeper league is full now.

it's all good. just thought I'd throw my name out there if needed.
On an added note, the BULLs vs. WOLVES game on DEC 11 will be on WGN...woot woot!

There's one game I get to watch in the comfort of my own home.

So as of right now, I have no FSN. No way of watching my wolves on TV. 1 month for this BS to sort itself out or its DirectTV.
