Pek is ready to rumble!

MANKATO - As youthful and naive as they might be, these Timberwolves possess enough good sense that they already have reached the same conclusion about new teammate Nikola Pekovic.

"I'm making him my new best friend," Wolves guard Wayne Ellington said. To hear assistant general manager Tony Ronzone tell it, Pekovic's 6-10, 290-pound body is made as much from tungsten carbide as bone and flesh.

Jawai looked considerably fatter.

Pekovic was a monster tonight. There’s no doubting this guy’s talent. He was banging with Darko all night long, making him look like a girl with her skirt hiked up plenty of times. He scored double-digits in points for sure. His post moves are uncanny and his strength is unmatchable. He wasn’t great on defense, but not bad. He’ll need to improve in that area if he wants to find consistent minutes all season long. But judging on what I saw tonight, Pek will have no trouble making the rotation.

Dude will be one of the big surprises of the league this season.

He looks to be in very good shape for a man his size... should be fun to watch him :)

It would be nice, after losing Jefferson's post presence, that we may have found someone that could actually intimidate a few people in the lane. I just hope he has the stamina to deal with the schedule. I am betting we may get a truer read on him next year than what we see this one.

Exactly. I hope to God Pek is a great post player. If he is he will become my favorite player on the team. I'm a huge believer in post play.

I feel pretty good about his ability to score, I'm kinda curious about how good (or bad) his defense/rebounding/passing is though. If he can just score nicely though, its money well spent

Only if Darko brings the defense. We had a post guy that just brought offense, kinda didn't work out so hot.

The difference offensively is, if Peks game translates well in the NBA, he isn't going to need 8 seconds to get his shot off.

And Pekovic isn't being paid #1 type money. If he's one-dimensional, he can continue getting backup minutes and being a nice scoring spark off the bench, without the pressure to start him and play him big minutes to justify the contract.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Yea but if Pek is capable of putting up 20+ on a consistent basis, he will be getting #1. Teams will slit your throat for a young player like that so overpaying him will be nothing.

Anyway, it's funny to hear that he is schooling Darko already.

You mean after his first contract is up with the Wolves? That's a problem I'd love to have.

Pekovic was one of the best centers in Europe....

Darko when he came over was a nobody...

Pekovic was recognized as the best center in Europe...

His post game is really good...He's super fundamental. Think Luis Scola. Not too quick and can't jump highest. Plays like a better Glen Davis.

Defensively, he's gonna have problems, but on offense he can tear it up.

Wow and 290 lb~!>>>?

He's put on good 20-30 lb .....be it muscle or fat...

and a bicep tattoo that displays a sworded warrior standing upon a bed of skulls

can't tell if that's sad or kind of cool. Cool in a "people who love monster trucks and date chain-smoking waitresses with 3 kids are actually kind of cool for some reason" kind of way

290 is too much, he must go 20, 30 down.

If it's muscles then it's not too much. We need a strong C who can score on anyone.
