9 man rotation

I think Rambis needs to stick with just 9 players and give them quality minutes until Flynn and Webster are healthy. We need a core unit of players getting familiar with eachother and trusting eachother. Learning to play as a team, not as individuals. Minutes could look something like:

PG - Ridnour - 28, Telfair - 20
SG - Wesley - 35, Brewer - 13
SF - Beasley - 35, Brewer - 13
PF - Love - 35, Tolliver - 13
C - Darko - 25, Tolliver - 10, Pekovic - 13

Brewer is much better suited to coming off the bench and playing the 6th man role until Webster is back. Wes has proven that he can be a starter and knock down shots. Tolliver is able to replace Love/Darko and provide pts, rebs, asts and blks. Pek provides muscle and points. Telfair is bringing defense and passing.

I think Ellington is slowly falling out of the rotation, and once Webster is back he will be inactive.

Agreed. Personally I'd like to see a little less Tolliver and a little more Pekovic but Ellington, Koufos and Hayward need to be glued to the bench. This game was the closest to that we've come. I actually kind of liked Rambis' rotation except for the weird Ellington for Johnson 4th quarter sub. Definitely made it a lot more enjoyable to watch imo.

I agree that the rotation needs to be shorter. I think around 30 minutes for Love is better though and we might as well put more minutes into Darko and Pek at C then Tolliver.

I think Ellington, Koufos and Hayward could still be valuable in limited minutes. Koufos is the only post player who looks capable of blocking a shot aside from Darko and if Pek keeps getting into foul trouble he'll be needed. Ellington can be used on the perimeter if Johnson goes cold. I'd drop their minutes quite a bit, but I think there's still a role for them.

was thinking 25 minutes is a lot until Darko can get his FG% above 20%, but its not his fault they keep insisting on running post ups for him like he's Patrick Ewing, if they'd cut that out it might not be so bad

You must've missed Tolliver's 4 block game in the opener (even though he has just one since then)

I'm hoping by the second half this will be our 9 man rotation:

Flynn (24), Ridnour (24)
Johnson (32), Webster (16)
Beasley (32), Webster (16)
Love (30), Tolliver (18)
Darko (24), Pekovic (24)

Ridnour, Telfair by default (hope Jonny can improve his defense on his return).
Johnson, Beasley, Brewer
Love, Milicic, Pekovic, Tolliver

Ellington, Hayward, Koufos, and Ager as situational players.

By the time Webster and Flynn are healthy, we'll have a better handle on the reserves. If Brewer continues to buy his role, he will prove value as a key 6th man in the league. The great part about Johnson, Webster, and Brewer is they can can guard both SG and SF ... Ellington's limiting factor. His chance to show starting caliber qualities was a failed experiment to say the least, but could be an effective situational player offensively. Unless Hayward can take over the reserve role at SG and SF, Brewer is going nowhere. i hope I'm not to high on Johnson and setting myself up for a let down, but it he starts putting the ball on the floor, he could be an excellent all-around player.

Enough with the rotation threads already.

Webster, Johnson, and Beasley all are decent shot blockers. Rotations just aren't there yet. Main probabem [EDIT] is our "new, longer" team can't keep anybody in front of them on the perimeter because everyone is guarding smaller, quicker players.

Fat chance with Rambis at the helm.

I wouldn't mind seeing Darko feeding to Pek from the high post...

I want to see this more often too, especially if Darko is more of a perimeter player as some have said. Maybe this is what he needs.

Means less time for Love though.

Not like Darko or Pekovic deserve more playing time based on the way they're playing. I do agree though that Darko needs more time in high post. To make that work Love + Tolliver also need to play together.
