Memphis wouldn't throw in a pick, and I'd still do it.

Memphis wouldn't throw in Thabeet and that pick.

Haiku response
Memphis declines trade
It would be funny to see
but they have Randolph

Randolphs in his last year
Love the haiku
They can keep Thabeet, he'll never be worth his salary
I realize that wasn't a Haiku, but I don't care
I don't think Mayo is the answer. He's just another jump shooter.
Josh Smith is the guy we need.

1. We already own MEM's 1st, from the Al Jefferson trade
2011: Top 14 protected
2012: Top 12 protected
2013: Top 10 protected
2014: Top 9 protected
2015: Top 9 protected
2016: Cash
If you wanted to include the pick, perhaps you could negotiate reducing the protections. I wonder if that's easier for a team to give on, since they already gave up the pick?
2. I doubt Mayo would re-sign here. You might consider re-working it as a three-way.
3. Krapinsky's right that Thabeet has been awful, and since he was drafted so high, his rookie scale makes him kind of expensive. Still, I wouldn't mind owning the guy, because he has that "high risk, high return" bloodline that I think Kahn likes to gamble with (something I agree with him on).

I don't even think Thabeet has any "high return" potential. He shouldn't have been drafted anywhere near the lottery imo. Just because Chris Wallace made a bad decision drafting him so high shouldn't mean he's a high return player.

Getting Mayo back may not be the answer, but if we ended up with the number 2 pick in the spring, it could be a good move. Seems highly unlikely and highly hypothetical, though.

Isn't he an all star? And he could play his 2nd one this year, if he were to play Phoenix every night he'd be a sure bet.
Fact is OJ Mayo has as of now more value than Love, and you still ask for the Grizzlies to throw in a pick? He's not just a jump shooter, he's a heck of a jump shooter who could even be an all star one day. A SG who can provide 17-18 ppg in a playoff team with good percentages has a lot of value.

I'd still do it. Unless Love starts showing that kind of effort for EVERY game. I'm not asking for those numbers consistantly, just the way he used his emotion. Usually he just whines and sulks, last night he used it to fuel his game.

I think we all did but it's also the first time he's showed that kind of effort since...well, forever. If he can keep it up then I wouldn't trade him but until he shows that sort of effort consistently I'm not going to label him untouchable either.
