Kahn Explains Darko

Overall this is a really good read. But I have to say that this is my favorite part:

Yes, Internet world, the Minnesota general manager hears you. And reads you. And watches you. He knows there's a "Kick Me" sign on his back, that some of his decisions over these last 18 months have bewildered the armchair GMs (and plenty of real ones, too), and that there's enough skepticism surrounding him to fill all those empty seats at the Target Center.

And he certainly knows what he did in bringing Darko Milicic into his blogger's playground, joining forces with one of the most infamous players in the history of the NBA and taking his easy-target status to a whole new level.

Whether he cares, however, is another question entirely. You are, he made clear while quoting Pat Riley, nothing more than "peripheral opponents."

"Sometimes people send things (from the Internet) to me, so I'm exposed to it in that way," Kahn said when asked if he peruses the Web for his own approval ratings. "A couple days ago, after seven games, there were NBA power rankings (on a web site) and the early returns on free agent signings, including one signing we made of a guy for four years (Milicic) and (they're declaring) 'This will never work.' It's seven games out of a potential 368 games. Come on.

"A friend sent (the story) to me empathetically, like (saying), 'Tell this (expletive) to shove it up his (expletive) ass, because it's absurd."

Decent read, nothing too exceptionally new in there, but a good time for the article to come out as it addresses most things that most Twolves fan's have probably picked up on watching Darko play over the last 10 games. And a little bit of insight on his relationship wth the big heads in the organisation. Would have liked to see a little bit more on his team chemistry and how he is working with the team around him.

BTW, im not sure how 'media allotment' works for players in the NBA but since Darko has been with the Twolves there have been almost zero interviews/video's with the guy. Would it be possible that he has a clause he doesn't have to do these, or is it most likely a combination of a large multitude of other factors that mean's he doesn't spend any time in front of the camera? I mean even with the playful/harmless Wolves 1-on-1 videos, he's exempt from them despite being a starter...?

The thing I liked most about this article is how there's a mutual understanding that if Darko doesn't perform the team has no problem upgrading him. My biggest problem with the McHale era, outside of the obvious, was the attachment that the FO had with players that just weren't very good.

Read this, maybe I'm crazy but this seems really logical, yet it seems most everyone else disagrees with me.

I think it's largely because they don't watch our games and just look at stats

Darkos d has been good but his offense has just been horrible. I think center will be our biggest need this offseason.

If only we could mix in aspects of that Hollins fellow in your avatar with Darko's skill set....
