How bad do you guys want your pick back from LAC?

Post#1 » by ClipperEric » Wed Nov 24, 2010 10:15 pm

Are you guys interested in getting your pick back from us? I'm interested in Rubio.

What would it take to send Rubio to LAC? You can have the pick, what else would it take?

I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of the Pick, Eric Bledsoe & ???

We're very happy with Bledsoe but we're looking for a major prospect at PG. He may turn out to be pretty good, but I don't see him as the long-term starter.

You can have anybody except Gordon and Griffin. You can send us bad contracts too.

Thanks, Clippers Fan.

personally (and this could just be me) another Pick unless it's for a John Wall/Blake Griffin level talent is kinda a step backwards.

I can't speak for other guys but I'm all about trying to form a winning team around Beasley and Kevin Love (once they learn how to play defense).

But maybe I've become to big of a homer to see the answers right in front of me

We got no bad contracts and we're not interested to move Rubio for anybody on your roster except Gordon and Griffin. If we're going to make a trade then it's our quantity for another teams quality. Anyway, I don't think Rubio is for sale.

aren't we being pretty cold to Flynn though? we can't keep them both and it seems a little harsh to hand Rubio the starting PG spot when he is unproven (and could prove to be a really bad shooter/scorer) over our guy Flynn who's been a good soldier through out.

I don't think anyone is too concerned with losing that pick next year. If somehow we win the lottery and we're 1-3, yeah that would suck, but we have our current roster stocked with players under 25. We have rights to Rubio, Bjelicia, and Prestes. We own two additional protected future firsts. We'll have a top 10 pick this year.

We won't really miss that pick.

We're gonna have to make a lot of trades this offseason then. Influx of talent when Rambis already sometimes play 11 guys (the anti D'antoni).

I think Tolliver is out, dunno who else though? Telfair?

Belly and Prestes are probably not coming over next season.

Tolliver isn't out. I'd say if anyone is gone it's Telfair and Brewer, with maybe one of Ridnour and Flynn as well. Overall I think all we have to do is keep the core together and add to it and we'll see a step forward next year, if there even is a next year.

I wonder, what would happen with the pick if the entire season has a lockout next year?

I don't think there's even a question that Telfair's gone at the end of the year, if not before. I also think Brewer, Ellington, and one of Flynn/Ridnour will be gone (pending Rubio/where the Wolves pick in the draft). I think Tolliver sticks around until the end of his contract. Decent rotation player at a reasonable price on a short deal.

Keep in mind that it's quite possible that none of the international players mentioned by Krapinsky come over next year, and it's likely that only Rubio is a possibility. It isn't guaranteed the Wolves see the Memphis pick this year, and either of those protected picks could be dealt for a future pick.

We likely won't be seeing wholesale turnover again this offseason.

Alphabetical order? That would really suck for the Clips.

team name? or city name? probably not Teams like the Celtics would get a stud.

It would probably be a 30 team lottery. Who knows I wouldn't worry too much about the lock out. Sounds like negotiating tactic to announce it

You sound far more reasonable about the value of the pick than many of the loudest Clipper fans on the Trade Board, who are SURE that a pick, a year-and-a-half from now, is going to be Top 5, and probably a potential superstar.

I continue to believe that the chance that Rubio is a superstar is much better than th chance that some future pick will be.

Rubio will probably be Jason Kidd minus the scoring and Pistol Pete minus the jumper...

This comparison confuses me, as Kidd is a career 13.5 ppg scorer and has only once topped 17 ppg.

We're not good trading partners it seems since you guys wouldn't part with neither Gordon nor Griffin The rest of your roster is not very appealing to us since we'd only go for quality instead of quantity if we somehow consider trading Rubio.

It got me thinking, though. Would anyone consider trading Rubio for our pick and an unconditional 1st rounder from the Clips? It would be a huge gamble considering the amount of talent the Clips have acquired over the last few years. Then again, the Clips are the Clips. Knowing their history they always seem to find ways to underwhelm.

I don't know, Steve Nash minus the shooting, but with better defense. This example comparison doesn't tell the whole story. It's easier just to say he's Ricky Rubio.

i was mostly poking fun at how often he is compared to those 2 guys.
(also yea that was part of the joke that Jkidd isn't much of a scorer and Rubio might even be worse)

I've seen this guy play a little bit and he's pretty talented. He's crafty, solid handles, good court vision, good passer, and can drive well to the hoop.
Having said that the guys stats are always very low in the ppg department. Also his jumpers broken.

I think he will be a better scorer than most think, but If I'm not mistaken he puts up like 5-6 points per game. I'm not saying that's the be all end all but it's not like he can hide behind his age anymore (he's 20) and we're looking for an instant contribution from him.

Just saying. Things could get messy.
