If Wesley Johnson was playing for Golden State

He'd be averaging 15 points , 4 rebounds, and a block a game. True or False?

False. Minnesota actually plays at a faster pace than the Warriors, and over there Wes would be backing up Monta and Dorell Wright.

The only way Wes's averages go up is if he starts being more assertive. If he's as passive as he's been to date, it wouldn't matter where he's playing.

We play at a fast pace, mostly due to guys (I'm looking at you, Ridnour) jacking up shots early in the shot clock, but we're one of the worst fast breaking teams in the league.

If he were playing for the the Warriors, he's have way more opportunities to finish on the break and he'd have a higher PPG average because of it.

And on that note, it's absolutely amazing to me how terrible the team is at getting out on the break considering the athletes on the team and off-season promises made by Kahn and Rambis. Most of the time, it seams like they're not even looking to push the break.

WE might play at a faster pace but we are no way in hell even close to GS when it comes to offensive bang. On top of that Wes gets like 6 shot attempts here.

If GSW had Wesley Johnson, they wouldn't have gotten Dorrell Wright, and they'd be playing Wes an awful lot of minutes to develop him.

I think we need to bring Carney back. We ran when he was around.

If he was in GS and getting numbers, he would be criticized for benefiting from the Warriors system.

This team has zero shot creators like Ellis and Curry. Wes needs those kind of guys to be effective. The lack of ballhanders is apalling, we have 2 people in the rotation who can dribble a basketball and they are both PGs and they both suck royally. Wes sucks at dribbling and needs 2 good ballhandlers next to him. Beasley has a weak handle for a wing player and there's no way convincing me otherwise. And everybody knows about Brewer already. Ellington is our 3rd best dribbler and he sucks as much as out PGs. Webster is not going to improve anything radically and Flynn only replaces one of our sucky PGs. Kahn need to get a good wing that has no problem handling the ball and finding his way all the way to the rim while being able to pass the ball to his open teammates.

But he shoots at a pretty solid clip.

It's pretty frustrating seeing him take so few shots.

Wes would have taken the SF spot and would have not been the 4th option. His numbers would have gone up. I never see us run a play for him.

That brings up an interesting point. Historically in the triangle offense we see 2 of the perimeter players handle the ball often and one of them used as a spacing option. Typically this is the pg. It seems this year that Wes is the spacing guy and the pg and Beasley are the options.

This is a good observation. I believe Rambis said he tweaked it in this way to get the PG more involved in the offense for Johnny and eventually, Rubio. So in our offense, once the ball is in the half court, Wes is playing the Fisher/Blake role.

Speaking of that where have the patented Kevin Love full court outlet passes gone? We've gotten into the habit of only throwing outlet passes to PG's.

Oh, I do think WJ's numbers would be higher in GS, they just have a "jack it up" mentality although they aren't necessarily taking bad shots. I hope we can get him to be more aggressive here in the future.

I have been (charitably, IMO) that we are not running as much because we are working on offensive sets and defense. Especially defense. I know that Rambis linked the decline in running to the horrible D we were playing at the start of the season. Certainly the D has improved some small amount.

I figure they might put the running offense back in once the team gets better at making stops and playing team D (ie, next year or the year after).

i really dont see beasley in our future plans and wes needs to be a three because we need a two guard to create this own shot but if wes can develop that im alll for it

I gotta admit though when he was hot from 3, he was a beast. Plus his dunks were entertaining to watch.

Sick dunks or not I hate him. One of the few players I could never really warm up to. Maybe it was because of his stupid looking high socks. Well Tolliver does that, too but at least he doesn't suck as much as Carney.

Beasley is giving me a Tony Campbell vibe lately. My dream would be Wesley at the 3 and Harrison Barnes at the 2.
