I would like this board to recognize...

that defensive rebounding is a big part of team defense, and nobody is better at it than Kevin Love. Also that fouling the shooter on anything but an open dunk or layup is the worst possible defensive play, and Love rarely fouls, making the opponent make the shot (as opposed to foul machine Pek and Darko to a lesser degree who seemingly is in foul trouble every game). Anyone who was watching the NY feed of the last game knows the Knicks announcers praised Love defense on Amare several times that game while posters here trashed him.

Just sick of the negative vibe around here swirling around this kid because he's not a good help defender. I for one will accept that flaw in his game and enjoy watching him put up numbers not seen in 28 years...

I've noticed that players tend to pick up more fouls when they put theirs hands up to contest shots.

Case in point.

That was the point. How do you expect people to respond to a thread made by you about negative vibes?

I don't know. At least I try to shoot my negative vibes at players that are genuinely bad.

Heaven forbid people criticize the bad parts of a good players game.

Were you also defending Als passing the past few years?

If Kevin's overall defense is as bad as you say, explain how he was 2nd best last season at his position in opponent's PPS, while Darko was one of the worst.

I plainly admitted his help defense is poor. Will you admit that it's nice he's keeping opposing teams from getting 2nd and 3rd opportunities by his work on the glass?

Why would I have to admit that? You act like it's some amazing thing you just discovered. Obviously his rebounds help end the other teams offensive possession. Does that mean he should get a pass for rarely contesting shots? No.

Should Kahn get a pass for Flynn over Curry because of the Beasley trade?

Well it's never f'ing brought up on this board where people like you suggest he's the biggest liability on defense the league has ever seen. I guess I must be blind.

Hahaha that's what I suggested by saying he should contest shots?

I see what this is about..

Yes, LordBaldric, you are a huge fan of Love and he is putting up great numbers. That in turn makes you great.

I'll give you that we may be taking Love's out of this world numbers for granted. But overall no matter how much people gripe everyone adores his stats and his performances (working around the issue of overusing the word Love to describe...err...Kevin Love). I can't speak for everyone but I'm a huge Love fan even if I don't mention it enough.

That's all I'll give you though. I like Rambis' tough Love on....errr "Kevin" (unless it chases him out of town)
Rambis may not sing Love's praises often but he wouldn't be that hard on the guy if he didn't expect great things.

Pushing Love to be a more complete player by pointing out his faults is not a bad thing. It can only lead to more wins and Love coming through on bigger and bigger stages

Call it enlightened fandom...it's better than being an irrational homer. (not that I'm calling anyone that)

Also weren't you/still are a Darko hater? come on man, the bandwagons rolling down the hill without you.

You can't get a defensive rebound on a made shot, and uncontested shots are much more likely to go in.

I agree he should always put a hand up on jump shots (which he usually does), but it's not like he should be running out trying to block shots that we all know he won't block and take himself out of the play in the process. But yes, it is disappointing the times when he doesn't put a hand in the face of a jumpshooter. I think his post defense is generally sound given his physical tools.

this may sound crazy but I think the same could go for Darko too. He tries to contest some shots that just lead to ticky tack fouls that keep him out of the game.
If a guard is going for a lay up and he's an 85% ft shooter, and you already have 1 foul in the 1st quarter is it really worth picking up another foul?

If Darko can continue his recent stretch of good play I'll be happily proven wrong about Darko and wanting Cousins over him. I'm not hopping on any bandwagon hovwever because I'm scared to death early season craptacular Darko will return.

This is true. Darko's shot blocking isn't doing us any good if he's glued to the bench.

Maybe if he played better defense then the other team would miss more shots and he'd grab even more rebounds?!

So now you agree that he needs to put his hands up more?
Who has said "Love needs to block more shots"?
People have been saying Loves post defense is decent ever since his rookie year vs Duncan. He just needs to show more effort.

What is the point of this thread? Besides pointing out that def rebounds end the trip down court (shocking) and that Clyde talked about Loves def between talk of shoes and dresses.
