OT: How the hell should I move the car?

Post#1 » by Calinks » Sat Dec 11, 2010 10:53 pm

 This sow is crazy. I haven't seen it like this since maybe I was a kid.Anyway, we are parked in the street like normal but with plowing coming through, I'm not sure how I should go about getting the car out. A couple years ago our car got stuck in an alley and I tried shoveling it out but that made it worse. How are you guys approaching this?

Yeah, it's pretty incredible out there. I ran a few errands earlier, quite the adventure. I have a 4WD Toyota pickup and was able to just power my way, but if you've got a small/non-4WD car, it could get ugly. Maybe shovel as much as you can, then put something down for traction (sand, old towels?) and if you have a manual transmission the "rocking-back-and-forth" technique is usually best.

I don't know man, good luck.

Yeah. Eff it, I will try shoveling around it. If it gets worse it gets worse, We shall see.

Lay some traction down too, kitty litter or sand if you encounter problems getting out.

Well, I shoveled for about 45 minutes. Made a little path to the road and everything. We tried to get it out and we did but we couldn't get back on the street. The street has been untouchable except for a few vehicles that made it. Probably 90 percent of the neighbors haven't moved their cars, some tried. We wound up moving the car back to where it was. Don't know what will happen. If they tow they will be towing about 12 cars it looks like.

Rubio should know Christmas is supposed to be white anyway.

Yeah man that sucks, I got my little dodge neon stuck last year in about 3 inches of snow and said eff this, and bought a half ton silverado 4x4. North Dakota atleast North Central has been spared so far this year.

I live near Iowa City and everyone told me for the last few days how today we we're going to get absolutely nailed with snow. Last night I moved my snowblower behind my car to make it easy to access, got the gas ready, and found my winter clothing. Woke up at about 7 am and saw that it wasn't even worth working on.

It's too late. Many TV News here are showing the Viking Stadium roof collapse and cars covered with 5 foots of snow.

I'm sure Ricky will park indoors and be spared on-street parking ;)
