Apparently he isn't happy in Portland. He doesn't like Miller as his backcourt mate and feels that he can't do his job properly with Miller there next to him. The contract and injury concerns are pretty scary and might scare myself away from the idea of trying to get Roy. However, if the injury can be fixed then we all know he will play up to the worth of the contract he has. I'm just curious as to what you all think about this idea. Roy is a better version of Mayo in about everyway and he's also better than Iggy.

His contract seems destine to become one of the worst in the NBA. Tough break for the Blazers but it seems unlikely any team is going to kill any chances of future cap room for a guy with a bum knee.

Uh oh - I wonder if one of those teams was us? Its one of those "Buy-low" gambles, but this one would be very high-risk simply because of all the guaranteed money he's due. We know Kahn saw a lot of Roy when he'd buy a ticket to watch Martell in POR.

No way. When they say there is no way to fix it, they mean there is no way to fix it. Basketball is a high impact sport and his knees will only get worse. He is pretty much finished. Its a shame because he is a heck of a player.

Dear lord, why? Unless they suddenly figure out how to grow new cartilage in his knee, Roy is only going to get worse and worse.

No one in their right mind should be willing to take on Roy. Aside from Joe Johnson and Rashard Lewis, I don't know if I can think of a worse contract in the NBA right now. I'm sure there are others, but Portland is on the hook for a guy who can't play 60 games in a season and will be lucky to put up 15, 5, 4 over the length of the contract. Too much money and risk to take a look. Your team is much better hanging tight and developing some of your young talent. If you are going to put all your eggs in a basket for a super star player, make sure he can run up and down the floor first.

For me, Brandon Roy is the cautionary tale about contracts that are big and long.

MIN benefits with Roy taking a big chunk out of a division rival's payroll for the next several years.
