I remember at the start of the season I was convinced Martell was going to be gone after the seasons end.
Lately given the role he has on the team and the closeness of the team in general I think he may stay.
a couple questions:
do you think he will stay?
should he stay?
Are Beasley and Martell good on the wings together (or are they both SF's)
We can't bring Martell of the bench if we keep him, I can't see it.

Going forward would this be a good team:
Rubio, Martell, Beasley, Love and Darko?
I like it, the only question mark for me is, whats our bench look like then and is Martell an SG. I know for our system it matters less but still

A couple questions for you..

Why were you convinced he would be gone at seasons end?

Why can't we bring him off the bench?

He seems to have the best attitude on the team so I don't think coming off the bench would be a problem for him. I'm sure he is already enjoying the freedom on offense he has compared to when he played in Portland.

As for him being a sg or not, I think he would be fine starting at sg. The obvious concern would be him guarding smaller (thus quicker) sg. However if you look at the teams in the nba not many of them are running small backcourts these days. The exceptions being GS with Ellis at sg and to a lesser extent LA with Gordon.

He's fine. The last week or so he's been our team's best wing, he's still young, on a good contract, has both a high IQ and character, fits the system, has chemistry with the guys, is versatile, etc. He's exactly what the team needs going forward and hopefully they can find a few more guys like him.

A 3 man wing rotation of Johnson, Beasley, and Webster beats any of our rotations in the past.

I don't see any issue with Martell at SG. I don't really see an issue with him off the bench, either. I would kind of like to see Rambis play with him starting to see if Johnson might be more aggressive coming off the bench (and playing with Flynn). Otherwise, Martell is here to stay (hopefully).

The guy should and will be gone next year.

A large part of me wants to see him start, but theres still part saying that Beasley won't work well with Beasley. I understand the Flynn/Johnson dynamic, but hopefully Flynn will be starting over Ridnour soon anyways.

The stuff I saw from him last night though sold me. He is currently our best all-around perimeter player, and it might not be close. He also seems to be a vet leader for this young team. Did anyone catch his interview going into halftime last night? Thats the kind of things a leader says.

Webster is much better than I thought he would be. I have no problems with him sticking around as our third wing long term. I'm starting to feel that Johnson will never be as good as Webster is right now. Johnson is more athletic but is he really going to develop that much more skill wise? He's only one year younger than Webster.

Me too, but what I can't seem to figure out is why he is almost always one of our best players in +/- recently

Not sure why this is difficult. Brewer significantly impairs the offense of opponents' main scorers, creates turnovers and gets to the foul line. All of these are +/- gold.

People don't like him just because his jump shot sucks. I say so what. He wants to play, and wants to make a difference more than anybody on the team. If Beasley had a motor like Brewer he would be a monster.

If Beasley had a motor like Brewer he'd average more turnovers then points

Exactly, the guy is a positive influence on the court, because he does the little things that dont always show up on the boxscore...he takes charges, he draws fouls, he hits FTs, he forces turnovers, he gets deflections, he scores in double figures consistently. He gets 2 steals a game, 3 rebounds, 2 assists.

Yeah hes shooting bad at 37% from the field, but a stack of NBA guards in this league shoot 40% or less from the field:

So Brewer shoots comparably to a bunch of players who are having terrible years, most of which are barely rotation players? Joy.

At least a few of those players can shoot a decent percentage from 3pt range (a sterling 25% for Corey, ugh).

His only real positive is drawing fouls and getting to the line, but he's still an offensive drain. On defense, he gets an occasional steal, which is often balanced by his man getting a clear path to the basket when he gambles.

He's not good.

He's not good.

Brewer was never an offensive threat, he wasnt drafted by the Wolves for his offense. In Florida he was a run n gun player who scored points on drives, layups, dunks, occasionaly threes. His Rookie year, he had limited playing time, 2nd season injured, last season he improved in all areas.

This season hes off the bench...so yeah, his confidence probably dropped a little, and hes not really the 1st, 2nd or 3rd option on offense even in the 2nd Unit. I have seen a lot of plays lately when the Wolves will pass him the ball with 2 secs left on the shot clock, or he jacks up three pointers to end quarters, he gets blocked/fouled driving into the lane. I wouldnt say hes Not Good. I would say hes doing what the Wolves expect him to do. Score when he can, play defense and hustle.
