I would do it. Monta is an incredibly talented offense player and this better balances our roster. I would make sure Flynn goes out too though in some regard. A Flynn/Monta backcourt is a nightmare.

I'd probably do this.

I think that's overpaying. I don't mind that we're taking on 2011-12 salary, since we won't have 2011 cap space and our big new deals don't come due until 2012. However, it seems like we don't receive enough compensation for taking on Charlie Bell and Najera -- and I'm not even a Ridnour fan.

I like it talent wise, but I am unsure of the cap situations. Could you show us that Shrink?

Monta would balance our team out. Give us a true penetrating SG so we can play Webster and Johnson more at the 3. A Monta/Rubio backcourt would be very interesting. I am not so concerned about Flynn because I think long term if he is here he is a 6th man. Monta's defense still worries me, but so does Beasley.

neither charlotte nor gs would do this deal, imo.

I doubt GS would do this.

From the Wolves POV, I too would like some alternative to Bell and Najera.

I'm pretty sure there were rumors of Charlotte being interested in beasley before we traded for him.

Plus he likes Tyrus Thomas and coached ai for all those years.

The Bobcats are said to be "highly motivated" to get Michael Beasley from the Heat.
A four-team trade is still in the works between the Bobcats, Heat, Raptors and Rockets appear to still be in talks of a deal that would land Beasley in Charlotte. But even if that deal falls through, you have to wonder if the Heat and Bobcats can work something out. And if Beasley is moved before 9 p.m., it's another sign that LeBron is leaning toward the Heat. Jul. 8 - 3:46 pm et

While looking for that I think I found evidence that we have a double agent on our hands. Or maybe that was when he was still smoking and needed extra cash.

I'm really surprised we never went after Ellis, especially if Kahn knew he was going to take Wes at 4. Monta would be an amazing fit on this team and would get Wes a lot of open shots. ARRGHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wasn't there a inadvertent message about him not liking Monta's contract?

His attitude problems, whether they were legit, or media manufactured, seem to have disappeared. I've definitely warmed up to the idea.

what funk said.

and yeah, charlotte tried their best to grab beasley before draft night. they didn't have the leverage that minny had. riley wanted capspace and charlotte didn't have enough.

Wasn't it Kevin Martin's contract?

That's the one I remember. Although somebody claimed that Kahn said something similar in regards to Iggy's contract, and I don't remember that at all. So I could just be senile.

You may be right. But Kahn is a cap space kind of guy, so I might have just assumed that every contract in that range is "too expensive" for him.

I get those two confused myself. I went looking on the internet for Kahn quotes on Monta's salary, and I couldn't find anything, so it was probably just Martin.

I don't recall hearing about Ellis, but Martin definitely came up and Kahn has been pretty frontal about Iguodala's contract.

As for the trade, I would go for it. I think Ellis would bring an offensive variable that we desperately need - a scorer that can also create for others. Beasley can score, but he's an inefficient scorer IMO and he seldom creates for others - he's looking for his shot and his shot only. Adding Ellis would allow us to use a more defensive-minded SF which is much easier to find than a high-scoring wing. This might make Wes a more viable option since we could move him to the 3 and still have a player in Ellis who is capable of getting his own shot at any time and can get to the rim. I don't care for adding Najera's money next year, but I think he has enough game to at least be movable at the deadline.
