Saw this on Hoopsworld's front page this morning.
http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=18320Given that it's coming from Hoopsworld I'm not sure how valid it really is but it is pretty interesting. I personally hope they wait a bit to trade Jonny. I'd like to see if he can work his way back into the starting position before we let him go.
PS. I liked comment #2..... could it be Smills?

If we draft Irving(please please please) and Rubio comes over, we have to trade Rubio or Flynn. If we don't draft Irving and Rubio comes over I think we split Flynn and Rubio at pg for one year and then trade the weakest link after that. If Rubio doesnt come over and we dont draft Irving, we definitely arent trading Flynn

If Rubio is coming or maybe Irving

then one of Flynn or Ridnour is out. Flynn can fetch some good assets, Ridnour probably can't, so Flynn is a better candidate to be traded, I want a future pick for him to have assets for possible future trades. And no incoming salary coming in for him, trade Pek for expiring too, Kahn needs to remain under the cap next summer to be ready for a possible trade for a star player or big FA signing. He's still a way from completing his rebuild, he must stay flexible as long as possible.

We're not getting fair value for Flynn right now. I hope we don't trade him.

Poopshurled sure has a pro-wolves slant. It's refreshing, but still leaves me skeptical.
Recap:
Kings, Raptors, Blazers, Clippers, Knicks, Cavs, and Bobcats are all interested in Flynn.
Kings? 2011 first
Raptors? 2011 first, Bayless, Derozan, Davis (probably untouchable)
Blazers? 2011 first (late lottery?), Fernandez, Batum (probably untouchable)
Clippers? 2011 first, MN 2012 first, Jordan (probably untouchable)
Knicks? Randolph + Douglas? ==> Wolves fans will likely want more
Cavs? 2011 first
Bobcats? Nothing? Yes, I know a lot of people like Wallace but he doesn't fit with Beasley, Johnson, and Webster already on the team

I think if Rubio comes over, we will definitely be moving Flynn -- probably next summer after he has accumulated more trade value. With Ridnour locked in longterm, it would take a surprising deal of Luke for Flynn to be here at the start of next season. I don't believe he has lottery value right now.

Verajao for Pek and Flynn? Verajao has kind of a big contract but he'd be an ideal third big with Love and Darko.

I think we'd have to add one of our late firsts to pry him away from Cleveland(i think they value him a ton). I'd probably do that deal if it was just Utah's first. We definitely can't do that deal now though. At least have to wait after the draft.
Well, who knows. Pek and Flynn might start playing a lot better an increase their value. No point in making any trades now. We should definitely wait until the season is over

I think we are at the stage where our trades should be package types.
SideShow is the "type" I like, but he is 28 (29 by the end of the season). I like the idea of adding 26 yr olds, but I wonder if SideShow will remain productive into his mid 30's. If we knew for certain Rubio was coming over then i would need to consider a flynn/Pek for SideShow.

I think that's interesting jpatrick, and while CLE publicly says they want to make the play-offs, I think many locals believe they need to start rebuilding. Not sure on the value.

If we are ever destined to compete then AV is is exactly what we need, he's got size and plays defense. Look at Celtics, Lakers, Spurs, the all had good depth of bigs that play defense.

Exactly. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and can say what they want aout Jonny, however it is just bad business to sell low like this.

That was a really fun article to read. Flynn certainly seems like the guy who could be a part of Kahn's "singular move."
I know the brass are really high on Johnson's potential, but I keep thinking that Johnson and Flynn could be traded together with a draft pick for a really outstanding player.

Have you seen Varejao's contract Rev? Nearly 26 million over 3 years from 2011-2013? To me that's way too much money to be paying a backup C, or even a starting C who is not a top 10 C in the league. For that kind of money I'd want a defensive difference-maker in the Tyson Chandler mode. I really hope our "singular move" wouldn't be sideshow boob.
I think at this point Varejao can be had for slightly more than capspace or an expiring contract.
Portland, Sacramento, and the Knicks seem like logical suitors, but what do they have to offer?
Jonny+Brewer for Oden+Rudy Fernandez + a pick?
Jonny for Jason Thompson?
Until he gets some more playing time and shows some improvement we are really selling low on him. And until he shows he can stay in front of his man (Patty Mills tortured him) I don't see Rambis giving him more than 20 mins. Of course he could also be in the middle of a Randy Foye career arc, and it would be good to get something decent for him right now.
