The Timberwolves have long publicly held that Ricky Rubio, a 2009 draft selection of the team, will indeed eventually come over from Spain and play for the team.
But others, citing the Wolves' less-than-stellar track record of late, were dubious to this claim, and thought Rubio may never suit up for the team.
Yet, there are increasing indications that Rubio will be bought out from FC Barcelona this summer and come over for the 2011-12 season.Bill Ingram of HOOPSWORLD wrote that "the Timberwolves grow more confident by the day that Rubio will finally come over from Europe."
And Ken Berger of CBS Sports is reporting Rubio has even let such intentions be known to the team.
"According to a person familiar with the situation [Rubio] has given team officials his word that he will join the Wolves next season," wrote Berger. "The buyout that Minnesota must pay FC Barcelona is down to $1 million, but it's not clear how Rubio's decision could be affected by a lockout. Even if Rubio comes to Minnesota, there's no guarantee he'll thrive immediately."If this is the case, it may put the wheels in motion for Jonny Flynn to eventually be traded in the future -- something we noted earlier Wednesday.

Re: RUBIO COMING!!??
This is probably extremely unlikely, but I was wondering if anyone knew if this was even possible:
I've been watching some of Rubio's games lately, and it seems his coach is not a big fan of his play (I'm not a fan of the coach at all, btw), and the team seems to be playing better with their backup PG. Is there any chance that they let him walk this year still? And if so, would we be able to sign him and have him come over yet this year?
I realize this is very far-fetched, but just wondered if it were possible. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
