Also on Sunday, forward Anthony Tolliver participated in contact portions of practice for the first time since he sprained a knee ligament in San Antonio on Dec. 3.

He did not travel to Boston and will be re-evaluated later this week to determine whether he's ready to return to game action. When he is cleared, Tolliver said he will return wearing a brace on his knee to give himself "peace of mind."

Good news, seems like he's right on schedule to return even maybe a little earlier then expected. Hopefully we can see this team at full strength for the first time this season.

that would be amazing, I dunno where Anthony Randolph fits in if Tolliver comes back. maybe we should gun for OJ Mayo

Tolliver > Randolph for us.

Tolliver and Randolph are actually very similar players at this point (with Tolliver being much more complete and skilled at this stage), Randolph has more potential, but I don't see where he fits with us.

UPDATE No. 2: According to the Star Tribune, Tolliver participated in contact drills in practice on Sunday for the first time since having surgery on the knee.

He will be re-evaluated later this week to determine when he can play again. Tolliver will wear a knee brace when he returns to give himself "peace of mind."

UPDATE: According to the Star Tribune, Tolliver was cutting and moving well during his training session on Tuesday.

"He's getting a lot better," head coach Kurt Rambis said. "He said he feels good. He's doing a lot of cutting, stopping, starting, angular work off his knee and he looks good."

Rambis is unsure when Tolliver will be activated. However, it should sooner than mid-to-late January, which was the original timeline.

Wolves power forward Anthony Tolliver has been out since Dec. 3 when he sprained his right medial collateral ligament. He ran for the first time on Monday and is making progress in his recovery from the injury.

"I hope to get in some non-contact work in practice this week, then maybe go full contact by the end of the week," Tolliver told the Pioneer Press. "I've still got a little tenderness in the knee. That's why I know I'm not ready yet."

Tolliver was given an initial timeline of six to eight weeks before he can return to the active roster and he seems to be on schedule.

This is good, we have really missed his D on the 2nd unit.

I could swear Tolliver had only like three or four games where he played good defense, which were highlighted by a couple blocks. The rest were not so good. Still, he's an upgrade over our other options.

I think I disagree with you krap. His defense seemed pretty good overall.

If his return means no more Koufas, then that should help our team immensely

When I see how people look forward to Tolly's return it becomes clear to me that this team needs Varejao type/level player badly, Tolly is similar to him but he's not that good and shouldn't be a key player in the rotation of the team that want to win a lot of games.

Not a big Varegao($) guy, but point well taken. IMO, Tolliver has the pizazz to help us out 10-15 minutes a night, but I don't expect anything more. I've seen him play well and I've seen him play poorly ... with heavy minutes, he's one of those guys that begin to get exposed and lose effectiveness. Overall, he seems to have the right attitude/skills for his role, but I'm not going to lose sleep if he's part of a trade.

I think Tolliver could be a big help in the upcoming Portland game when Darko isnt in there. LMA just abused us last time because none of our guys had the length or athleticism to keep up with him. I think Tolliver could do a pretty good job sticking with him, much better than what Love or Pek could do, thats for sure

I think Tolly lacks body mass to effectively defend LMA, Verajao would be just what doctor ordered :D

Good to hear that Tolliver is on schedule. Let's hope Rambis doesn't throw him in the D-League for 2 weeks when we need him.
