Love talks about leaving Wolves

Kevin Love has emerged as a legitimate superstar this season, leading the NBA in rebounding by a large margin.
His relationship with Minnesota coach Kurt Rambis has been strained, mainly over differences relating to playing time.
The Timberwolves are struggling, but Love is aware that the team has a brighter future.
"I can see a light at the end of the tunnel," he said. "I couldn't see it last year."
Love is eligible to sign a contract extension this summer but admits he does think about free agency.
"We'll see what happens with what David Kahn and the front office want to do," Love said. "If it's right, it's right. If it's not, it's not. I could end up somewhere else. I just want to play for a team that wants to win at this point. At this point, I just want to win now."

I don't think it will be something to worry about as long as we start winning games. I don't think the playing time thing with Rambis is an issue anymore. Kahn will probably do what it takes to keep him here, hopefully.

He's saying what pretty much everybody says when asked about free agency, you never know. I think the article is misleading in itself, especially the title. I guess it's wiretap though, so a guy can't expect much.

and just a couple days ago he said this:
"Hopefully I'm in the Timberwolves' long-term plans," Love says. "I know that we can be better. We have a ton of cap space, another draft coming up, and we're only going to get older. All those things will help us."
People all over the country are going to read too much into this. All that really says is that he's getting tired of losing. Wow, shocker! I'd be upset if he wasn't.

MN should start trading in their prospects for productive players if they want to win more game and keep Love. Losing Kevin Love would be a huge blow to the franchise

It's two seasons away till he can actually test the free agency market, and like it was just mentioned, he's going to be restricted anyways.

Here come the trolls who take every misleading wiretap headline seriously. I'm looking at you PoP. This is a non-story from half of a sound bite and should be locked.

Please trade Love for Griffin.

This is good. What he's saying is that he's ready to win now. That's what we want. He's been super positive about Rambis and the team in every other public utterance he's made. He's not negative about either in this one. He's just saying he's ready for it to happen. As long as Kahn is publicly committed to winning, there is no difference. I think if anything, this could be seen as KLove agitating for Kahn to make a move that would make the team more competitive sooner. And that's a good thing.

Meh. Even though most of us Wolves fans don't put any credence in this, I think the thread is still valuable.
First, it gave C.lupus a chance to show people what Love said yesterday. Good post.
Second, it will funnel bad offers for him into one thread. He clearly would help a lot of teams, so many posters will set aside skepticism as they dream of Love wearing their jersey.

If i was a Minnesota fan i'd love if just the opposite occured. Partner? Detroit Pistons.
MIN trades: Love
Det trades: Jerebko, McGrady, Monroe
If not, i'd settle for McGrady, Jerebko and a pick.

That would be a big hell no from Minnesota.

Every player wants to win, and win now. Every player considers himself a "winner" and wants to play for a winner.
For Love to want Kahn to make a move, means he is essentially selling out a teammate, or teammates, saying "they aren't good enough." and the funny thing is, deep down I bet every other player on the team is probably thinking the same thing about their other teammates.

All I ask is that he gives us a chance to extend him. We give him a fair offer I ask that he takes it, that's all I can ask

I dunno, Kahn keeps talking about how this team is 3 years away, and I think a lot of us see what he's saying. What I see Love saying is that he sees the team as being ready to turn a corner now. And I don't think every player does feel that way. I think a lot of pro athletes are cynical and in it for themselves and the money.
Consider this. Rambis (and implicitly, David Kahn) have established a hierarchy based on execution within the team. When KLove pushes for a move that's aimed at winning now (or sooner than 3 years, anyway), he is endorsing that hierarchy. He is saying, move some of these people who aren't contributing to us winning and get us someone who will. That's putting the team first, and if it's at the expense of one or more of his teammates, it is at their expense on the terms set out by his coach.
