Luke for Kirk?

Would you trade him for Hinrich? Kirk makes twice as much as Luke but his contract twice as short. Their playmaking skills are nothing special and Luke is probably the better scorer but Kirk is big improvement over Luke on the defensive side of the ball which is our biggest need atm.
I'd trade Ridnour for Hinrich and Flynn for Harris, none of those guys are franchise PGs so I'd take vets that play defense for this team.

Interesting. I've always liked Hinrich, if not for his defense alone. I guess if I were in Washington though, I'd rather just keep Hinrich around. With Wall's injuries piling up, they probably would rather add another emergency PG as opposed to swapping Hinrich's versatility for a pure PG in Ridnour
When you say Flynn for Harris... do you mean Devin Harris. How is that even feasible?

I'd do this in a heartbeat. What other piece would you send to Washington to make it work financially?
Kirk can also play the 2 guard when match ups fit or if we need another good ball handler & passer in the game. GREAT for late game situations. He could maybe teach Jonny how to play position defense and fight through picks. If not Jonny then maybe help Rubio with his transition to the NBA.

Horrible for the Wolves. Hinrich is nothing like the player he once was. Ridnour is paid half Hinrich's salary.

Hinrich has only one year left on his contract after this season though... it's not
that bad.
I think it might be worse for the Wizards.

The OP said Kirk was paid twice as much, but the key is his deal is half the length. (if that is a concern).
I am a Kirk fan, but I do not want to spend our cap on him. He fits my def vet mentor desire, but at too much of a price tag.

I'd swap luke for kirk however WAS won't.
However WAS fans would probably do this 3 teamer:
NYK IN: ridnour
MN IN: Kirk
WAS IN: turiaf

If you could meld Kirk's defense into Luke's scoring and age/salary, that would be great. Otherwise, no thanks. Not at all.

I would swap Luke for Turiaf before I swap Luke for Kirk. I like Turiaf. However, Hinrich isn't the solution to any of our problems. At least not at his price tag.

Trading a player for a more expensive player at the same position for more money. Oh and by the way that player can't score as well as the player already on the team. This doesn't sound too good.

No. Hinrich is not a better player than Ridnour and twice as expensive.

Any remaining cap space that we could have had would be spent on Hinrich. That's 4,320,000 that could have been spent on another free agent. Darko Milicic by comparison is making 4,325,000 this year. That potential free agent may or may not be as good as Darko, but the fact remains that we're losing both Luke and our cap space.

I wanted Kirk a few years ago when they drafted Jonny and Sessions wasn't doing so great as the backup. But now? He's still not worth that contract and he's not the player he was back then either.

Not a big upgrade.
