Beasleys status over the next week?

With Beasley clearly limited over the 2 Spurs losses, should management keep him rested? Wolves have 4 games over the next 8 days, which would be too much for him to take on with injured ankles.

There are 17 games between now and the All-Star Break. If he sits out the next 6 games, that will give him 2 weeks rest. It also allows other players to setp up in his absense. With a 8 man rotation, mins could look like:

PG - Ridnour - 30, Flynn - 18
SG - Brewer - 32, Webster - 16
SF - Wes - 32, Webster - 16
PF - Love - 40, Tolliver - 8
C - Darko - 30, Tolliver - 18

Or do we take the risk and play bealey limited minutes?

I have no problem with Beasley playing as long as the medical staff is certain that they aren't risking anything. We can afford to be extremely cautious when we're nowhere close to being a playoff team.

I'd rest him, no point in pushing him really. Start Brewer and Webster, give Webster Beasley's touches and be done with it. Maybe activate Ellington or Hayward too.

I say definitely sit him for the Wizards and Magic and maybe Blazers games and then see where he's at. That will give him about 6-8 days of rest and then see where he's at. Zgoda is reporting he can't walk the ankle right now:

Beasley says he can't walk on ankle now, probably will shut it down and "give it a couple days to rest." #Timberwolves

No reason to rush him back. We won't be turning that corner with him playing limited minutes anyway so we might as well get him close to 100% as possible.

The only problem with starting Webster, is the lack of offense from the 2nd Unit. Wes has shown flashes of instant offense vs the Spurs off the bench, but not enough to keep the starters on the bench for long periods.

In the last 2 games, averages for the SG/SF spots are:

Brewer - 30 mins, 40% FG, 80% FT, 9.5 ppg
Beasley - 19 mins, 27% FG, 4.5 ppg
Webster - 26 mins, 39% FG, 85% FT, 13.5 ppg
Wesley - 20 mins, 33% FG, 8.0 ppg

IF Beasley sits for the next 2,3 or 5 games, lets start Wes and get him more invloved in the offense and give Webster the green light to shoot off the bench.

Start Lazar, throw him to the Wolves and see if he can do something. Like Juice said, we won't be turning the corner on these close loses with Beasley limited. See what he can do.

I would have even advocated bringing in a D-Leaguer. Too bad Alan Anderson left for Spain, I wouldn't have minded him being a Wolf for 10 days. How about Walker or Joe Alexander??

Telfair / Ellington / Hayward / Pekovic / Koufus

That way we wouldn't risk injury to any of our good players since our season's a lost cause anyways.

Brilliant idea. Then we would lose every game by 55 like the Cavs just did.

But as was stated earlier...

We can afford to be extremely cautious when we're nowhere close to being a playoff team.

I'm more worried about getting production out of the SLU then the bench

I understand the risk point but...

Darko for example is not the same guy after he got injured. I really believe that it sucked big time he had to step in limping for 2 or 3 games... Maybe what bothers him now is his confidence, but IMO its not the same guy the last 4 games...

Let's take an everyday office example. You stick with a guy and you assign him tasks. Too much overtime, he can never leave for vacations because he is so valuable. There comes the time where you burn your MVP and the guys on the bench do not step up.

Let Beasley rest, and give some time to Love too... 20 - 20 every night. Ok ridiculous numbers, created with little assistance by teammates but give the guy a break.

Mike at least needs the game against the Wizards off and then evaluate from there. Having watched Mike for a couple of seasons now he really heals pretty quick, and he could be ready for Orlando, but I would at least give him a solid week off.

That would be really something to see.

More likely we'll just see more of Brewer, Johnson, Tolliver and Webster, but it would be fun to see what Lazar makes of some actual game minutes.

Well in 123 mins, he has scored 31 pts with a 22% FG. He doesnt need minutes.

Anyway...we always see players who are listed as questionable and who go on to play. You can play limited minutes or just play like you normally would, but when your not playing 100%, just sub in someone else.

We may not be a playoff team but we should be playing our best players when healthy at every opportunity, especially at home games. We have pride and progress to play for which should be more than enough. I think Klomp was just on a wind up anyway.

That was nice. Very Minnesotan.

Here's hoping Wes incorporates some of the better aspects of Brewer's game. Wes has the shooting to make Brewer's kind of game the pillar of the team we are hoping for. NObody drives like Brewer, though. And that's probably OK, even though it's amazingly wonderful when it works. :lol:
