Consider option for starting 5 (2 play makers)

First topic by me. If the title does not fit or it has been discussed again please remove (no hard feelings

)
Minnesota is low in assists, makes a lot of turnovers and does not handle the ball. The tempo is fast as already mentioned in other threads but not efficient. Consider this option (ok do not hit that hard on me)
Point Guard Luke
Shooting Guard Flynn
Small F Beasley
Power F Love
Center Darko (?)

Why have two PGs in the starting 5? And who would be the PG off the bench if Bassy is injured or traded? I get the idea, but that would be the worst defensive starting backcourt in the NBA.

Minnesota defense sucks anyways... may if they leveraged the assist ratio and reduced the turnover ratio they would might get some Ws. Anyway if not a standard scenario i have not seen Rambis playing with two play makers on any time on any match.

I like the idea Greco, but Jonny has trouble with opposing PGs becuase he is shorter and has much less reach. Opposing SGs would almost all have 5 inches or more of height advantage, and much longer arms. Jonny would go from being a defensive liability to... uh, something worse.

This sounds like the original plan of Rubio and Flynn together in the backcourt, except Luke is not Rubio....lol. Don't think either one of Luke or Flynn could guard a 2, so that would create some major problems defensively, even more so than there are already. It's not like our offense is abysmal or anything, we constantly hit 100 in games, but our defense just is so bad sometimes. And we can't get stops in the clutch, another reason for so many blown games late. We need to worry about fixing the defense rather than fixing the offense.

We need to trade Wes for Harden, he will be a good fit for this team.

I'd kill to get Harden. Might even like him more than Mayo for Minny.

I'd definitely want Harden more than Mayo. But we're not getting either.

No way Ok. gives up Harden. But Mayo could still be possible...although highly doubtful.

Why? I think Presti will be tempted by picks being thrown his way. It's not like Harden is a cornerstone of his team.

I think he just may be. Harden's still got developing to do, with a high ceiling. Pippen Jr...

Wes, Flynn and Jazz pick for Harden & Maynor would be my offer.

Harden is no better than Wes. On OKC he isn't a high usg player ~18%. He's better with the ball in his hands creating for others or pushing in transition. That job is Westbrooks. OKC would be better served by a highly efficient shooter that projects to be a good defender. Wes also has a year more on his rookie deal.
MN needs a guard that can handle the ball. Play in transition and drive to the hoop.

Wow... a tactics thread automatically transformed in a trade thread. Somebody needs TRADES BAD.
To me defene is more of a team effort rather than individual skills. While you get a good shooting guard defender you will have to deal with already bad defenders like Beasly, Luke, Flynn and even K-Love...
My statement for this option i that stats speak for themelves. Minnesota is bad in assists and turns the ball over too much despite it has established a fast tempo.
The next thread will be about picks and floor spacing.

Flynn and Ridnour would be destroyed. Also our assists aren't that low lately since Ridnour has come along.
And there's nothin wrong with the floor spacing. We are top 5 in 3%.

No way i could agree that Wes's ceiling is as high as Harden's.
*** and sorry OP for my contribution in taking this off topic...

I dont want to see Flynn starting at any position right now, Wes just needs to work on his game, he's our SG. That length/athleticism/shooting is perfect for the team, we need to maximize those skills running him off screens on offense and honing him into our defensive star

I agree with pretty much everyone else when I say that move would be bad. Especially on D.
