Kevin Love on Kevin Love

On a personal note, as most of you know, I've had a pretty good year so far. And as a result, there's a lot of talk out there about me making the NBA All-Star Team. Which would be excellent, because this year's game is in Los Angeles, where I played college ball at UCLA. One way or another, I'll be there, either as a player or a spectator. Hopefully I'll be playing.
Right now, it looks like it's gonna be really close. I've got a shot at a reserve slot, and the coaches pick those. Here's how it works: the head coaches in the Western Conference all get ballots and they have to pick two forwards, two guards, two centers. I think I have a pretty good rapport with the coaches. And as far as numbers go, I'm a lock. But at the same time, the coaches could say, "OK, well, Kevin has had a great season so we should give him recognition—but at the same time the Timberwolves haven't been doing too great." Because it's not just about individual play. So I'd say my chances are probably 50-50. Maybe even a bit less. I'm hoping and praying. It would be great for the Timberwolves, great for my family, and obviously great for me, but we'll see.
At this point, I'd say it's probably between me, Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge—for one spot. And with the game being in Los Angeles, Blake probably has an edge, especially when you consider his high-flying dunks and the way the Clippers have been playing as of late. It's going to be hard to deny any one of us. There are going to be a few guys left off who are well-deserving, and I'm just hoping that it's not me. The roster is announced on February 3rd—this Thursday. So wish me luck.

I hope the coaches realise when they select their picks, that what Love is doing this season, hasnt been done in 30 years. He deserves a spot.

Or that he has been playing some center and they should just put him there.

I think Blake should get in. Love said it perfectly. He is flashy, the Clippers are starting to win, and it's in LA.
I hope Love can get in as well.

Griffin and Love both deserve to be in over Duncan.

I hate listening to Love talk about himself. You can tell he's a pampered douche.

I disagree. He has a certain smugness, but he doesn't take himself too seriously. He's definitely schooled in the arts of always saying the right thing, he doesn't just use canned responses.

i agree, duncan has the wins obviously but hasn't been playing enough minutes or putting up the numbers. he's gonna be on regardless though...i kind of agree on love, he does sound like a bit of a douche..

I wouldn't call Love "pampered". Yeah, his dad played pro ball and his uncle is a Beach Boy, but that doesn't make him a jerk. Just confident in himself and his abilities.
If he needs to count his stats to motivate himself to achieve these ridiculous 30/20 games, so be it. It's also kind of a generational thing I think. It's the Twitter, Facebook "let everyone know what you are thinking and how you are feeling at all times" mindset that many people in their late teens and early 20's have. Many people who are more recognizable (athletes, actors, etc.) shy away from this stuff, but Love revels in it.
