It cannot be our first. We are not allowed to trade it due to the LAC trade (how many times do I need to say that). So it is Utah or Mem pick.

I do not understand why we take Curry. What does that do for us at all? We waive him and then lose the cap flexibility? I do not understand that aspect.

Ronzone loves Randolph. Take a flier on him, but for Brewer+1st+taking Curry?

Yet we are throwing in the pick, and a player arguably better than Randolph.

As much as I like Randolph, once again Kahn is not getting the full value for assets.

I'm glad to see everyone else thinks this proposed trade is terrible. Brewer is a FA after this year anyway, so if we don't want him after this season, then's he gone anyway. Curry's contract would just be bought out, so doesn't do us any good and we're already under the cap. I can't really comment on Randolph, but I think saying that he's not worth Brewer, a first rounder and taking on Curry's contract. There really isn't any reason for us to be involved in this trade and if anything we should be receiving 1st round picks for aiding the deal, not throwing in firsts.

I generally like what Kahn is doing, but this trade needs to be aborted now. Let someone else be the third wheel. We would just be giving up way too much for little to no reward.

While the Nuggets realize they will have to seriously engage the Knicks in trade talks for Anthony before the Feb. 24 deadline, a third team already has stepped into the on-deck circle as a potential facilitator if talks between Denver and New York ever gain traction. That team, sources say, is the Timberwolves, who are willing to absorb Eddy Curry's $11.3 million expiring contract in a three-team scenario that would send Anthony Randolph to Minnesota and Anthony to New York. In this scenario, which one executive involved deemed "unlikely," the Wolves would simply waive Curry after the trade. Depending on the timing, Curry would likely have only five paychecks remaining for a total of $4.7 million. So taking on Curry would involve little or no cost to Minnesota; if the Wolves could negotiate a $3 million buyout covering the remainder of Curry's salary, that tab would be fully picked up by the Knicks, who could send as much as $3 million cash to Minnesota in the trade. But Curry's $11.3 million cap number would help make the complicated trade math work in a three-team deal. Now that would be sensible.

The only way that the ESPN trade makes any amount of sense for us is if Broussard simply forgot to say that Minnesota also gets Afflalo in the deal.

Although Curry would take up Minny's cap space, he's only owed $4.7m. 2/3 of that could be covered by the Knicks if they send $3m Minnesota's way.

So basically, it's Brewer + late 1st for AR, which I think is pretty solid. AR is what the team needs while still having some potential, Brewer is an RFA, and the team doesn't need more prospects anyway.

Why not? Brewer is going to be a FA anyways. And all you talk about how the draft is going to be so thin. Based on that, I'd rather have a look at Randolph than a low pick in a bad draft.

At that above article, there's no way Curry accepts a buyout that big. He may never get another contract, he's keeping his money. But since you'd be getting $3 million and losing Brewer's salary it's probably at least a wash. If Brewer has no value, it's basically a very late pick, probably not even the Memphis pick, for Randolph, and Randolph still has potential and is likely much better than what you'd get drafting in the 20's.

It's terrible for Denver, especially after the Nets rumor, and it's fantastic for the Knicks. Just Curry and Randolph for Melo? Amazing. If you guys are steamed about this I can only imagine what's going on in the Denver board.
