Found this on Rube. Naturally, all those nincompoops want nothing to do with Verajao and his "bloated" contract.
Another source said Minnesota recently expressed an interest in Varejao, and with the Timberwolves’ array of young talent and draft picks, the Cavs would be willing to listen.

It’s true Varejao is out for the year with a torn tendon in his foot, and that has likely deterred a lot of teams (particularly those in the playoff chase) from making a push for him. But the interest is still fairly strong -- despite the fact the Cavs would be more than happy to keep him for the rest of his career.

Basically, Varejao isn’t untouchable, but it would take quite an offer to pry him away. If that offer comes, it’s more likely to come in June than February.

Not a massive fan of his if I'm honest but he'd be a decent energy guy off the bench. Wouldn't trade any decent assets for him.

I could work w/ that. Pretty good pick and roll player, developing jumper, great defense, luscious flowing locks of hair

Initial thought is Pekovic or Koufos would be in the deal (maybe both), along with a wing player - Webster or Brewer, and potentially one of our extra picks.

Id be fine trading anything not Beasley, Love, Rubio, Johnson, and our pick for him. I dont think we are going to get him since the Cavs asking price is probably a lot more than what other teams are willing to pay

That's a lot to give up for a guy that just suffered a major injury, wasn't overly great to start with and is slightly overpaid to top it off.

I think he'd be a nice player on this team but I wouldn't be giving up much for him. Brewer and/or Pek would be as high as I would go and the picks would definitely be off limits.

Varejao would be a really nice addition, but he is not making back up money. He is making 7 mil, 7.7, 8.4, 9.1, with a team option for 9.8 in his last year. I don't think Darko is cool with going to the bench so my question is what happens to our rotation? Its not like Darko is truly owed anything from our FO, but he has done his part to continue to get better. Is there anything that says Darko wouldn't dart if we made Varejao the starter? I heard him say one time, "it doesn't matter who starts, me or him (Pekovic)" but he was talking about someone who he was clearly in front of. Again, Varejao COULD come off the bench, but then you run into a starter being paid less than his back up. That never goes over very smoothly when you are dealing with vets.

Lastly, whatever it would take to AV is probably worth more than actually adding him to the team. I'd go Pek, UTA pick, and Brewer, but would they actually accept that? And for how much more he makes than Pek, is he actually WORTH that?

That is a lot for an injured player. I wouldn't be worried about the pick though. I actually see the pick as something we should be turning into a more veteran player. Just adding our own first and potentially Rubio are enough rookies for the youngest team in the league. No way we keep all of those players.

He is 8 to 9 million a year, but he does play very nice defense. Could work very well with Love and Beas next to him...

I'd do it for Kosta & Brewer, plus the Memphis pick. Or Pek & Brewer + the Utah pick, for him and their 2nd rounder next year. We have enough guys on the roster, not sure what we are gonna use those two picks for anyways.

How many minutes would he take away from Tolliver?

Would AT get pushed into the Pekovic number slot?

I'd be somewhat interested in him just because his defense is really good. His contract is a bit more than I'd like though for essentially a hustle/defender.

Does it matter?
Tolliver seems like a great guy and all but seriously, you don't base any move on how it can affect Anthony Tolliver's situation.

My first thought was DANGIT, I WANTED TO MAKE A THREAD ON VAREJAO BEFORE THIS RUMOR CAME OUT. You only get one chance on realgm to look smart ONE CHANCE and I blew it.

Minnesota's options for a decent players are dwindling. There is 13 days until the trade deadline and our cap space for this summer appears to be less than the MLE. If we can't get something done before the trade deadline, than I'm going to be a sad panda.

If you want Minnesota to use their cap space before it turns to practically nothing, than Varejao could be an attractive option. At least he's established talent and not another prospect. I can't see his value really decreasing especially with so many teams desperate to keep their stars or playoffs hopes alive.

I'm not entirely opposed to adding him. The only players I would never want to be mentioned in these discussions are Beasley, Rubio, Johnson, Love, and our 2011 pick.

completely agree, i actually wouldn't want him on this team...what if he can't recover from this injury? he is then a dead weight massive contract...we are also going to have to extend beasley and love at the end of next year and will need to pay big for them, varajao is an upgrade defensively over darko but he certainly doesn't bring twice the impact(twice the salary), i'd definitely say no to varajao.

The picks are really up in the air for me right now. I want the team to have at least one pick for next year but right now I think they've got a chance at two. Memphis is currently out of the playoffs and I believe that Utah might fall out with all of this Sloan stuff, so I would personally be hesitant to trade them.

I'm not saying I'd make them untouchable either, just that I wouldn't trade them for a guy like Varejao.

Great defensive big, don't need the ball very often in the offense, but have a decent offensive touch in the paint, I don't think this injury will cause bigger problems, but his contract is a little big, a lot of money IMO...

Hoopsworld claimed that, "There's little concern that this injury will have any long-term effects on Anderson." I really don't care to do more research on this topic though.

Hm. I'm guessing Darko goes to the bench if this happens. Rambis could also go big and play Darko at center and Varejao at the 4. The money is a lot, but if we could get him for Kosta, Brew and a pick, the trade is hard to pass up. Can you imagine what people would say about David Kahn?
