The Knicks and Wolves have a deal in place to send Anthony Randolph and Roger Mason to Minnesota in exchange for a late first round pick.

Sources say the deal is on hold until New York determines what will happen with the Nuggets in regards to Carmelo Anthony. Denver is reportedly interested in acquiring Anthony.

I'd still rather do Bassy/1st for Randolph. Can we even take on two players? If not wouldn't we probably waive Bassy anyway? So the only difference would be that we get Roger Mason Jr.
Hip Hip Horray?

That's a good deal. I'm a little disappointed that this will likely be the extent of our moves this season, though. I was hoping for more.

I thought I saw a blurb that the plan would be to waive Mason. It seems like they'd actually want Telfair in the deal since they still need a backup PG, right?

If we can do this and then trade spare parts for Varejao, I would call this a successful trade deadline.

This. Very successful, great platform for next year.

We would waive him? I thought we would have to waive a player prior to the deal for it to work.

And yeah if they want Bassy then it makes sense. But then what is the difference from the previous rumors? Just Roger Mason jr?

The article also says Denver is interested in acquiring Anthony.

When I first saw that I thought it was a typo but then I realized it's because AR is in that elite class that only really needs a first name. Like Kobe, Lebron, Oprah, and Hansel.

Much better than that Brewer + pick for AR and Curry. I hope this trade pulls through

Is there a CBA expert in the house? This would put the Wolves at 16 players. It seems that the Wolves would waive Mason immediately, but can he even get on our roster to be waived?

Otherwise, sure sounds good to me!

CBS Sportsline's Ken Berger wrote: As CBSSports.com reported Jan. 26, Nuggets officials have dropped their opposition to including Knicks big man Anthony Randolph in a Melo deal and have come to view the 21-year-old as a player who could flourish if given an opportunity to play. The possible inclusion of Randolph in a trade that would send Anthony to New York is the only reason Randolph hasn't already been traded to Minnesota for a late first-round pick. Outside of a three-way Anthony framework, Minnesota would take on Roger Mason ($1.4 million) and waive him as part of a one-on-one deal with the Knicks. That deal is on hold until New York and Denver decide whether they're doing business or not, according to a source.

So, now what do they expect to give up our cap space for? Cheese nips?

Is #2 "get Mayo?" I know you want him.

i don't get why people want varajao, in the 12/13 season we will hopefully have beasley and love still(i will speak in current cba assumptions, cause who know what next will look like) and they will both more than likely require 10+ million contracts, varajao would be on the hook for 8.5 million that season and 9 the next...that would put us at a minimum and likely well over 30 mil for three players...adding to that we don't know how current contraction are going to be adjusted in the new cba and it is a massive risk just taking on that salary alone moreso the fact that varajao isn't very good, is coming off major surgery and will be 32 by the time we can decline his final year. \

i think adding him here would be a MAJOR disaster for this team, if we were competing for a championship, sure i'd take a chance on him..but the fact is we are alottery team with no hopes of playoffs for a few years and will in all likelyhood be using our lottery pick this year on a power forward(draft and our team stacked at power forward)

Personally I don't care about Verajao's contract at all because, as far as I know, we'll be over the cap regardless of whether we trade for him or not (due to draft pick contracts and contract extensions) and we'll be able to sign Love and Beasley to whatever contracts they want regardless (due to Bird rights), so Anderson's contract would come down solely to Glen Taylor's money, and a billionaire having to pitch in a few extra dollars to make the team better doesn't bother me.

Edit:

And looking at that just now, I realize that I just made a single sentence an entire paragraph's length. :-?

on the bright side, Beasley is a long way from a 10 million plus a year contract. Actually thats not a bright side, nvm

Not to sure about that. I would expect him to finish with about 20ppg this season and around 5-6 boards. Not to many SF's in this league that score over 20 and get about 5-6 boards make less then 10 million
