With Koufos gone as part of the AR deal, the roster stands at 14 players. A Curry + pick(s) deal that brings back 2 players is in play.

Memphis makes the most sense. A recent article stated they'd be hesitant to move Mayo while his value is low, so why don't we give them full value?

Memphis is going to have to pay Randolph and Gasol this summer, and Mayo and Thabeet take up a significant amount of their cap. They have a potential replacement for Mayo in Xavier Henry and they are receiving 2 (albeit later) first round picks to compensate for their losses. It also can't hurt that they're receiving their OWN pick back here, too.

For the Wolves, we'd be giving up 2 first rounders that we don't really need. We'll hopefully be adding Rubio and 1 high draft pick-- no need for 2 more late first rounders. Mayo is reunited with fellow 2008 lottery picks Beasley, Love, and Randolph. Haddadi is included to make salaries match; he'd be waived.

Well I think Memphis easily declines this. This is the equivalent of the Wolves trading Flynn and Johnson for an expiring contract and two crappy firsts. Hard to sell that trade to your fan base. Thabeet and Mayo were the #2 and #3 pick from recent drafts.

Memphis is in a bit of a different position than the Wolves, though. It's commonly known they're trying to unload Thabeet's consequential salary and you might go as far as to say he's got negative value. Mayo's caused some problems for the team and isn't really contributing to their playoff run. They have to pay 2 of the players that are contributing this offseason. I doubt that Memphis has to "sell" ditching Thabeet, and if 2 firsts + cap room to sign Randolph/Gasol isn't enough, we could part with more.

I don't think you can attatch value to Thabeet based on where he was drafted any longer. Its obvious that his talent/current standing do not match that. His value or lack of, is his stupidly high cap number compared to his production.

Even Mayo may be beyond the value of where he was picked. He's clearly wearing out his welcome there, and they have Henry to replace him. So how much they value two players who haven't lived up to their potential but could be productive down the road. Is it worth more to keep them and hope Rainbow Randolph and Gasol accept lowball offers to keep everyone or dump them for picks and space to keep their frontcourt for sure?

For some picks, I'd do that trade, most def.

I agree Memphis probably doesn't want any part of losing talent when they are in the playoff race, so maybe after they gracefully bow out of contention or get stepped on in the playoffs, this could work.

In the meantime, would I be alone to say that Rashad might be worth a look for us for the last chunk of the season? He can hit shots, he has the ABILITY to stand in front of someone on the defensive end, supposedlly he has a much better attitude and wants his foot int he door again and we know he looks good in a Wolves jersey.

Is he even still in the D-league?

I know that after I read his Rashad idea, I saw him and immediately crossed the street.

I might try to stab someone's eyes out if we trade for expensive crap players like that.

Word is that Heisly is still a big fan of Mayo and he's not being moved for smaller parts. Makes sense that they would not trade him when his value is so low and he has not asked for a trade. Thabeet is a different story. I want nothing to do with him. Someone will probably take a gamble on him though. If James Johnson can still net a first, my guess is Thabeet may as well.

I think Mayo is obtainable, but the big issue is even if he's not figuring prominently in their playoff run, they still can't move him and not get anything but picks in return, IMO. I'd think you'd have to look at Ellington or Webster who could at least be sold as bench production like Mayo in addition to the picks. Thabeet might be a different story, but I'm sure they need to save face that way as well.

I guess that works salarywise, it's about fair value for Mayo and wouldn't hurt that much the playoff aspirations of Memphis.

It'd be even worse than that. Unlike Johnson and Flynn, Mayo has proven to be able to produce at a high rate in the NBA in the right situation.

Can't see this happening if I'm honest, though I wouldn't argue. Highly doubt they'd accept that deal either Devilz but I'd probably do that, god I'd miss Pek though.
