Kahn/Rambis To Return

Post#1 » by Klomp » Fri Feb 25, 2011 3:30 pm

Rob Moor, chief executive officer of the Timberwolves and the man who hired David Kahn as president of basketball operations, said Kahn and coach Kurt Rambis will be back next year, even though the team has won 13 games this season, 15 last year and the overall record to date of the Kahn-Rambis era is 28-112.

"When we hired Kahn and Kahn hired Rambis, we promised them three years to develop a winning team," Moor said. "We figure it would take at least that long to turn the program around. We feel they are making progress despite their record."

So does that mean we can have a losing season next year as long as they are developing a winning team for 2012/13, or does the team need to start competing next year?

I read that to mean they need to start winning next year.

They better do because they'll lose me if they don't offer a better on-court product. :-?

There's probably some leeway, but I think the team needs to show significant progress.

Significant progress next year, at least or close to .500 the year after. Kahn has been consistent that last year was year zero and this is year one. Presumably he would only keep saying that if his boss agreed with him.

Kahn and Rambis will be back, but the fans won't.

I'm know I'm going to be reduced to casually looking at box scores once in a while, next season. It's going to take something significant to win me back. I have lost faith in this FO and there are so many other things I could be occupying my time with.

I'm okay with it. But if they have the same product on the floor by this time next year I will be calling for heads.

If we don't have a winning record next year they better be gone.

Call me negative but I'd be happy with 30+ wins next year going off this year.

I am almost out of hope. I need something drastic this summer to even care anymore.

I'm thinking they should be refunding my money for tickets to games that have been pathetic this year and last. If they don't get close to .500 next year, they should have to pay me to watch. At least then I would feel more comfortable if I chose to blow off a game and not go to it. I just wouldn't get paid if I didn't go.

Definitely need to make a coaching and/or GM change if things don't turn around next year.
I've been a fan since the beginning and I will be until my end.

Attendance is up mainly because of the dramatically slashed ticket prices. My season tickets (normally $35-$40 a game) came out to about $10 a game.

With the threat of the lockout, the lack of improvement in record, and the season ticket prices rumored to increase after March, there is a big concern that many fans will tune out.

dunkonu21 wrote:you guys r so damn negative chill out.

Fans have a right to be upset with the product, especially if they paid for it. I suggest you ignore it, because telling us to "chill out" frankly doesn't do ****.

If you guys think it is bad here, spend a week on some other boards, or the Wolves Facebook page. People are tired and have lost patience. Casual fans make up a large portion of the attending audience, and in talking with many of them, they aren't happy. Seeing them on the lightrail after games...they are drained. This isn't a simple "2-3 year rough patch" We have basically gotten worse every year since the 2003-2004 season. And it doesn't look to be remedied any time soon. In fact it is very realistic that we will have go through a 10+ year drought without sniffing the playoffs.

The Clippers haven't even done that since moving to LA.

I never thought I could have this feeling about the wolves. I've always thought, next year we will put it together, but that is dwindling. I really don't have faith. I'll still stand by the team, still a season ticket holder, but its hard when the product is so poor.

I wish I lived closer to the cities and go to the games to heckle the team... basically yell what I yell at my T.V..... "Put a hand up!" "Rebound the ball!" etc etc.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
