The league needs to do something about the player tampering. This is pathetic.

Next year Love needs to bring Basti with as his "assistant". Then Basti can record the recruiting conversations and give them to Kahn to use as trade incentives.

Next year Love will be the guy recruiting after averaging 20/15 20 seasons in a row and leading the Wolves to a .50 record. Oh yeah pipedream.

I think guys probably do that stuff all the time. Plus we already know how everybody thinks every players wants out of Minnesota.

I read this last week. Weird that it's being picked up as news now. Slow news day I guess.

doesn't seem like a big deal to me. seems pretty impossible to do anything about, kevin and russell are good buddies and there's no way that wasn't gonna come up at some point.

Can't keep players from talking to each other but this seems to be crossing the line or at least straddling the line, into collusion. It doesn't seem fair that coaches are forbidden about talking about players but the players can go around blatantly recruiting at the ASG.

I don't get why players shouldn't be able to do this. They are workers, not slaves. How many other ares in life are you going to catch heat for trying to recruit one of your buddies?

I think it would mainly be harmless chit chat, like Durant saying "you could be firing those outlets to me in a couple of years." I don't think it's a big deal.

A team with Durant, Westbrook, Love and Perkins could be really good for a long time. If The Wolves can't start showing sign of improvement next season you gotta be worried about Kevin leaving Minny. Love seem like a guy that really cares about winning and you gotta wonder if he is willing to pass up a chance to sign with a winner just to stay loyal to Minny and get some extra money.

they cant sign him w/ m&m's, they'll need money which they won't have unless they waste a precious season of Durant. Now if the time comes and Love says FU i'm out I want to play w/ the Thunder, we can talk trade w/ guys like Ibaka and Harden coming back

Pretty sure it messes up the league. You can't have players running the show.

This kind of attitude is a rampant problem with the players in the NBA. Somehow it's entirely up to the fans, GM, coaches, and every player other than the superstar to put on a dog and pony show two years before that players' CONTRACT is up. If you don't, you have to put up with a one-hour gut punch ESPN special or half a season of pouting and "this is a bizness, y'all." Kevin Love has put up some gaudy numbers this year, but he's still the face of a 15-win franchise. Is that everyone else's fault but Kevin's?

This is a league where the players have entirely too much control. Just look at Utah. One player has the ability to force out a LEGENDARY coach and then force a trade...devastating one of the most solid, winning franchises in the league for decades. Deron Williams is a good player, but he's not Stockton or Malone. Yet still, he was able to unravel an entire organization because he was unhappy with a losing streak (or something? what was he so upset with?).

The success of the league rests entirely on the new CBA. Because if a team like the Wolves can't even hope to keep a BORDERLINE all-star like Kevin Love for $70 million, the whole Jenga tower will crumble.

At the end of the day I think Kevin's decision to re-sign in Minnesota will be entirely based on his perception of how the team will compete going forward. If we're looking like a frisky young team I think he'll stay no matter what rhetoric Durant and Westbrook cook up.

You know I don't understand much your contracting system, but IMO :

If I was Kevin Love (I'm less tall and more nice-looking and poor) I don't sign with the wolves and nobody recruit me until next year. It's the logic choice.

Last seasons were 22 /60, 24/58, 15/67 and this one sounds like 20/62 as much.

He will take his decission in the next season, when he can make sure Rubio is here, the boys of the 2011 draft are good, and His Excellency Gleen Taylor forks out the money of his excellent and F pocket for sign a top free agent.

Then, if he can see a good project with a young team builded around him , then he can sign if the wolves can play the next season playoffs. Otherwise, he will fly far. KG's example is near still.

Love isn't going anywhere for a while. He's a restricted free agent, people are worried over nothing. At least if they're worried Kevin is going to choose to go somewhere else. This is going to be the Wolves decision to keep him.

All I'm saying is if I'm in Love's Position after next season and never mind getting to the playoff's if I still haven't seen a 30 win season after 4 years I'm weighing all my options. Me personally, I wouldn't want to sign a long term contract in what might be the prime of my career to a team that might still be rebuilding 4 years from now.

Do you think Love should be forced to stay in Minnesota for his whole career?

Look at it from Love's perspective not yours.
