So he goes back to the Lakers then? I can't wait to play them and see Love shoot uncontested 3s all game. If they plan on firing him I'd rather they do it now and give Theus or Lambier a chance.

I'm still not convinced he'll go. If he puts together a good few wins towards the end of the season I can see him getting next season too. The fans gave up a long time ago..so I don't think they'd be bothered if he was let go.

Of far greater certainty is the status of coach Kurt Rambis, who appears to be on his way out after only two seasons. Though management won't make a final decision until the season is over, sources say there is significant push from within to make a coaching change. Atop the Timberwolves' list of potential successors is Bucks assistant Kelvin Sampson, one of the people with knowledge of the organization's thinking said. With a young roster clearly lacking in veteran leadership, some members of the Minnesota brain trust believe the team needs a more vocal, energetic coach on the sideline. Rambis is cut from the Phil Jackson cloth of letting his players police themselves, and also has been at odds with Love for long stretches. A coaching change is something Love would not oppose, sources say.

It's definitely not that Rambis is doing a bad job, just a bad fit for our team. Probably go back to LA and take over for Jackson, of course if this is legit and not speculation.

Sampson? Can't we do better?

I see a lot of opinion, not much fact in that.

I see more fact in this:

Rob Moor, chief executive officer of the Timberwolves and the man who hired David Kahn as president of basketball operations, said Kahn and coach Kurt Rambis will be back next year, even though the team has won 13 games this season, 15 last year and the overall record to date of the Kahn-Rambis era is 28-112.

"When we hired Kahn and Kahn hired Rambis, we promised them three years to develop a winning team," Moor said. "We figure it would take at least that long to turn the program around. We feel they are making progress despite their record."

Not convinced by Sampson's link, I know it's harsh to dismiss someone straight away but he has no head coach experience and doesn't have too much experience in the NBA. Plenty of experience at college and has done great things there but the NBA's a whole different ball game.

I sure hope its obvious to Kahn and Moor and Taylor that Rambis is running a defensive scheme that the Celtics and Bulls would probably have trouble keeping teams under 100 on a nightly basis.

Ken Berger isn't nobody, but I am quite skeptical of this. Rambis and Kahn have been on the same page since day one. They both talk about the same things in the same way and both have remarkable patience with our young roster. I think the lack of urgency on their part is a very intentional player development strategy, and it doesn't make any sense at all that Rambis would get fired for it.

I'm sure somebody in the organization feels differently, and if they fed a line to Berger, so be it. I wonder how their day at work is today?

I really don't believe that article at all. I think it's all BS. If we do FIRE RAMBIS! we better not bring in another project coach. It's time to get someone who have proven something.

i've always thought Rambis would eventually take over for Phil jackson one way or another. Makes sense, but I think if he left it would probably be Rambis' decision and we wouldn't owe him nay money.

Re Sampson -- he seems like a legitimate candidate. I know the Cavs were interested in him before they hired Scott.

I don't really believe this, either but I guess I wouldn't be shocked if it happened. Rambis would fit in a lot better on the veteran Lakers. I don't really know that much about Sampson to have an opinion but I would think they would give Laimbeer a shot.

Well, Kahn recently gave Rambis a grade of C at a season ticket holder meeting, hardly a ringing endorsement. I'm crossing my finger hoping this is true.

And if he did become the new Lakers HC (which I highly doubt- that organization is too smart to make that mistake a 2nd time), then I guess we won't have to worry about Love forcing his way to the Lakers in the future.

How credible is this guy?

I am actually a big fan of the hard cap. I think it will allow small market teams to remain a factor. It has worked with football so far.

Breaking up Heat makes me happy too...but I wonder what happens to the players

Franchise tag makes me incredible happy.

Rambis is good news, only if the guy coming in is a better option. (obvious right?) Although I am not happy with Rambis, I am sure it is not all of his fault and I would worry that Kahn could not bring in an attractive prospect...btw, why have we not at least interviewed Sam Mitchell?

I'd rather let Kahn/Rambis ride it out together for another year, but tie their fate together after that - if one goes they both go.

I wouldn't mind seeing Laimbeer as head coach. Hell, bring in Aguirre and Salley too. Even bring in Isiah as long as he's limited to coaching and keep him away from the front office.

Guess I'll talk about Rambis. I guess I don't care either way whether or not he's here next year, but I'm leaning towards going in another direction. I don't really take this seriously though, we'll just wait and see what happens.
