For the giggles: Ridnour or Jaric?

Post#1 » by re49gb_2gho32fp » Mon Mar 28, 2011 2:01 pm

Would you rather have Ridnour running the point or do you think 05-08 Jaric would do a better job overall?

If anything, i think Jaric is/was better defensively. Probably one of the more robust caucasians guards to play the game the last few decades.

Oh boy. I hate Jaric so much for costing us an unprotected 1st round pick next year. This thread is not going to end well.

Edit: For the giggles: injured Brandon Roy on a max contract that he'll probably never be able to live up to again or Randy Foye?

The answer would go in the opposite direction than your username suggests.

Just checked Jaric's stats on bbal reference (should have done it a few mins earlier, i know), rather underwhelming to say the least. in particular with respect to fg%, well and apg.

So you think he recovers?

Seriously, I think as a team I would rather have Foye and 60 mil. $ savings right now.

Roy will never be Roy again. But your talking about a player who Kobe consider the only other player in the league with no holes in his offensive game. Roy has the BBIQ to figure out how to be productive again and watching Blazer games Roy has still shown the ability to create his own shot whenever he wants. The big thing is he gets no respect from refs now so he will actually have to learn how to finish when he goes to the rim because they sure as hell wont' send his wabbly ass knees to the line.
Roy is overpriced and wont' be worth 80m but he is sure as hell worth more then randy foye no matter what contract that guy has.

I always liked Jaric. I'd much rather have him than Ridnour.

I'd rather have the possibility of Rubio coming next year than Roy.

Jaric will never be worth the contract or the draft pick, but I think the biggest issue is we never used him right. Try him as a point-fwd where he can drive against his defender instead of backing a smaller PG down. If you run the offense through him as a point-fwd and put a scoring PG next to him (FOYe?) perhaps you could have had minor success.

Is it really only about Randy Foye, though? It's basically Roy - or Foye + other signings because you save like 70 mil.

I would choose Foye + ability to sign other guys right now.

Sorry, just had to post this here.

Although I've never seen Jaric play, I would choose him to handle defense (Which Ridnour seems incapable of doing). However, I would choose Ridnour to conduct the offense. So it's a mixed bag.

Well, if it truly is "For the Giggles", It's Jaric no contest.

As far as Foye/Roy goes, I've always had a soft-spot for Foye...but so far his max performance has been as a starting caliber SG on a terrible team (Unless you count that January for the Wolves when he and Big Al dominated the league). Usually putting up good stats in losses means you don't play D.

Foye is probably as good as the best guard on our team right now. (Luke Rid?)

Still, I'm not convinced Roy is done. I guess, if you factor in contracts I'd rather have Foye because you can trade him if you need to.

I don't want Jaric back. He was too slow to play PG and couldn't score. I just saw him play the other day actually.

Jaric's very first play as a Wolf consisted of him making a steal off the jump ball and driving in for a contested reverse layup. I said to myself.. Oh Yea Baby.

Good lord.

i guess he enjoyed the nightlife in Minny?

yea, from what i've watched Jaric doesnt really have clear position to play. too big slow for pg, too unreliable shooter for sg and sf. but he was BIG for a guard.

torcher, i absolutely love that signature. try to repeat it to myself daily.

I kinda agree with Rev here. He wasn't worth the contract nor the pending draft pick, let alone both (thank you McHale) but as a player I had always liked him. Basically he's a complete basketball player. There's nothing he can't do from an individual standpoint. He can pass, shoot, defend, rebound but if you run your team through him or make him (try to defend) actual point guards, you're in trouble.

Also, who wouldn't mind seeing Adriana Lima in the crowd again? ;)

If he had a smaller contract and wouldn't be asked to play the PG spot I wouldn't mind having him back.

However, as a PG I prefer Ridnour. If he only wouldn't shoot so early in the shot clock... :banghead:

Darko is known for being drafted between LeBron and Carmelo. Marko is known for being traded for Sam Cassell and a soon-to-be unprotected 1st. Thus, each had unrealistic expectations placed on them that they simply could not reach.

As for the question, Luke hands-down. He gets way too much blame around here. He's been our 2nd most consistent player all year long.

Once we get our future PG (Rubio or Irving) we will all appreciate Luke a bit more, hopefully more than Jaric, who I'm sure we all will love once we find out the Clippers will get the 1st pick in the draft next year.

yea predicated the ? more on in terms of pure player quality and not external circumstances/implications.
btw, speaking of the *sidewalk , 22p on 10-11 shooting is his stats right now with a few mins remaining in a euroloeague game. game of the season which wont be replicated. looks like adriana bit him in the arm for some reason:
